Act Your Age!!!

It’s rather ironic. When you are a missionary people tend to put you on a pedestal. It’s kind of cool in a way. When you’re 19 you usually don’t get a whole lot of respect at school, work, or home because you are considered somewhat incompetent...

But, when you go on a mission, you’re suddenly treated with more respect than you are used to. People 2 and 3 times your age begin to look up to you just because you are a missionary.

It’s rather cool. You begin to enjoy being treated as a responsible adult, but sometimes it’s hard to be an adult. After all we were just kids at heart. What’s the saying? I think people tend to describe us as “ordinary men doing an extraordinary work.” The funny thing is that we weren’t men, we were just kids . .

.

It's kind of cool when you have youthful friends. Usually when one of us had a birthday all the others in the apartment would pitch in and by the birthday boy dinner. You should have seen everyone’s faces when Elder Media said that he wanted to go to Check E. Cheese. I thought it was totally awesome. Of course I of all people would:)

In fact, a few months ago I went out to dinner with some friends from church. After Family Home Evening we decided to go out and eat pizza. Can you guess where we ended up? That's right, we raced each other on the driving games, had a little pizza, and watched the singing puppet thingies up front. It's true, it is where a kid (a 4 or a 4 1/2 yr. old) can be a kid:) What can I say? Old habits are hard to break.
