Goodbye Party

One tradition we developed after awhile were Family Home Evenings. We started off doing them for the members benefit, and then we loved doing it because it was like being with family. I truly loved the members of this branch. Anyways, the picture below is from a goodbye party/Family Home evening that they threw for me before I returned home to Sunny California. Humph, should I tell you about the other tradition that developed there . . .

Yeah, I guess I will. Usually when it was someone’s birthday (or when they were going home) the members would pitch in and buy a cake. Well, here’s the tradition. When the cake is for you, you stand by the cake and you’re supposed to take a bite out of it for good luck or something. Anyways (yes that is my favorite word I picked it up from Ann Marie), when you went down to take a bite everyone would try to push your head into it. If you got the bite and avoided have your face pushed into the cake you were off the hood for the rest of the night. But, if they got you, the cake fight would continue off and on for the rest of the night.

In case you are wondering, there was a chocolate cake this night. Unfortunately I don’t have space on this site to upload any pictures of us afterwards. I’ll have to put it on another sight and upload it later:) Believe me, this will be one link worth waiting for:)
