Paul Hunter has won the award for Director Of The Year at the 20th
Annual Billboard Music Video Awards. The video for The Dope
Show by Marilyn Manson (directed by Paul Hunter) also won
the Maximum Vision Award (given to the video that best advances
an artist's career) and Best Hard Rock/Metal Clip.

It is rumored that Paul Hunter is getting ready to direct 2 new videos: Malibu

directed the new video for Flipmode Squad's Cha Cha Cha.

The nominations for the 20th Annual Billboard Music Video Awards were
announced on October 8. Paul Hunter and his videos received 6
nominations, including 2 nominations for "The Dope Show" by
Marilyn Manson and Paul's nomination for Director of the Year. The award
will be handed out on November 6.

Paul Hunter directed the new Brandy & Mase video Top Of
The World which is currently on rotation on MTV,
BET, & Much
Music. Paul Hunter also broke through racial stereotyping when he
recently finished directing a video for rock band Everlast for
their song Father of Mine (Billboard 08/01/98).

MTV announced the
nominees for its annual Video Music Awards show (September 10,
1998), but Paul Hunter did not receieve any nominations. MTV has
obviously overlooked Paul's superb contributions to music video
direction this year for Been Around The World, My Way, Only
In California, & Fire It Up. Mariah Carey's Honey
(remix) video was nominated as Best Female Video. Although clips
from the Paul Hunter-directed Honey video are used in the remix
video, the credited directors are Daniel Pearl and Mariah Carey.

Queen Latifah's mega-video for Bananas/Paper were
directed by Paul Hunter. The video is actually a double length video:
two singles, two halves of the video that can be each played by itself
or played together as one video. The first half, Bananas,
is often played on Rap City by itself (because it's a rap song). Bananas/Paper
features guest appearances by actor Tommy Davidson and Pras from The
Fugees. |
