***a MUST WATCH!***

The Paul Hunter Music Videos section now
includes full Quicktime video clips for the following music videos:
- Justin Timberlake - My Love
- Outkast - Idlewild Blues
- Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl
- Stevie Wonder - What The Fuss
- Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell -
Drop It Like It's Hot
- Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
- Marilyn Manson - Dope Show
- D'Angelo - Untitled
Hmmm... Paul Hunter's been a bit
low-key in 2006. But of the 6 or so videos he's done, many have
been pretty high-profile. There's the Mariah Carey & Pharrell
Williams video Say Somethin' (shot on-location at
the Louis Vutton store in Paris), the Mary J. Blige/U2
collabration of the U2 remake One, and the current smash
Justin Timberlake video My Love. My
personal favorite is the Justin Timberlake video (perhaps my favorite
video of the year), while my least favorite would have to be
Idlewild Blue by Outkast (the video does absolutely
nothing for me). Aside from his video work, Paul Hunter has been
pretty busy with his commercial work. He did several commercials
including ones for Burger King, JC Penney, and the
heavily-played Diet Coke "Roller Girl" commercial (which
may have actually premiered in 2005, but was still going strong thru
2006). No word on any future projects for 2007.
(August 30, 2006) NEW JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE; LUKE & Q VIDEOS
Paul Hunter shot the new Justin
Timberlake video My Love, which permiered late last
week. Let me tell you, this video is GREAT. Starts off
with a 1:40min. intro with JT and Timbaland chanting "My Love"
against a dimly lit (black) background with pulsating linear
fluorescent bulbs. Then the real video starts. Justin
dancing against a minimal cool white or cool light blue set (like
those minimally-shot Gap ads from a few years ago). Some lyrics
from the song are conveyed visually, as violins, love notes, and a
gold ring float past him (I can't quite explain it properly, but its a
great shot) Justin and a troupe of about 7-8 dancers doing an
intense choreographed dance. Shots of them dancing are (almost
seamlessly) edited between them against the light-colored set and a
dimly-lit black setting. The camera swoops around them in weird,
but interesting, angles. The shots are edited to the beat of the
song. Great feel to the video. The video ends with a shot
of Justin dancing solo, as the camera swoops around and UNDER him.
Pretty cool stuff. The video features a cameo by rapper T.I.,
who also raps on the track.

(August 30, 2006) PAUL HUNTER SHOOTS NEW OUTKAST VIDEO
Paul Hunter directed the new Outkast
video Idlewild Blue (Don't Chu Worry 'Bout Me) from the
soundtrack to the new Outkast movie Idlewood. The video
premiered August 9 on MTV's Total Request Live.

(August 1, 2006) PAUL HUNTER VIDEOS SHUT OUT OF MTV VIDEO MUSIC
AWARDS NOMINATIONS
Paul Hunter videos received ZERO nominations for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.
The nominations were announced yesterday (July 31). I suppose it
has been a slow year for Paul Hunter and videos, as he only did 7 or 8
that were eligible for this year's awards. But even his video
for Mariah Carey's Don't Forget About Us (which is the
most-played/most-popular of his videos since last August) failed to
turn up any nominations. Last year his videos for Gwen Stefani (Hollaback
Girl) and Snoop Dogg/Pharrell Williams (Drop It Like It's Hot)
received a total of 6 nominations, with Hollaback Girl winning
the award for Choreography. The awards will be handed out during a live
broadcast from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on August 31.

(June 14, 2006) MARY J. BLIGE/U2 VIDEO
It seems that Paul Hunter had directed the video for the Mary J.
Blige/U2 collaboration One (a cover of the U2
classic). I think the video has been airing for a while now, but
I hadn't heard about it until this week (perhaps because the video was
primarily shown in Europe? Not entirely sure if that was the case...).
The video is a simple black & white performance video with close-up
shots of Mary J. Blige, Bono, and other U2 bandmembers, as well as
static shots of the backstage and props (signature-Paul Hunter style).
According to
this German U2 fansite, the video was shot in mid-February 2006 in
Mexico City.

(December 31, 2005 - January 11, 2006) 2005 YEAR-END REVIEW
2005 was a pretty decent year for Paul
Hunter. He continued to do a handful of videos:, about 9-10
videos in the past 12 months, including such highly-rotated clips as
Hollaback Girl (Gwen Stefani), Don't Cha
(Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes), and Don't Forget About
Us (Mariah Carey). Paul was also fortunate enough to
direct R&B legend Stevie Wonder on his video for So What
The Fuss, which had a very unique concept. It was the
first 'descriptive music video', which carries an optional audio track
(provided by Busta Rhymes) which describes the visuals on the screen
for people with visual impairments. Paul also did a handful of
commercials this year including the controversial BK "Coq Roq"
clip, and the recent Virgin Mobile clip featuring Kate Moss.
My favorites this year include Signs (Snoop Dogg feat.
Justin Timberlake) and Hollaback Girl (Gwen Stefani).
My least favorites include Don't Cha (Pussycat Dolls)
and Can I Have It Like That (Pharrell Williams). I
haven't heard any news on possible projects that Paul Hunter will be
involved with in 2006; but as with the past several years, you can
expect more great videos and commercials.
