VIC's Original Playbill Comments: ""Anytime I've performed a Tom Jones show in the Cabaret Revoltaire, it's inevitable that I wound up mimicking his inimitable style - so indelible is his vocal stamp on all his many hits. What aspiring singer wouldn't want to be Tom Jones? He hits notes I'm busting up my guts just to get in the neighborhood of. So you'll forgive me a few melodic goobers as I pay my vocal debt to this Welsh wonder. When I first attempted singing in public without a guitar strapped on, without even thinking I copied the way Tom held a microphone with his pinky extended on his THIS IS TOM JONES show (see our accompanying story). Also, our flashing V-I-C sign is a low budget version of that show's TOM -multuous letters. Guess all this makes me, uhhhVic-Tom!! Join us, as we:
---HEAR! The voice of TOM speaking to me using words like SHIT, FUCK, PISS and OAKEY DOKE!
--SEE! DJ On-The-Wagon and myself channel the spirit of far away but far-from-dead Tom thru our awestruck bodies! (Please don't you try this-at home, or ever!)
--TOUCH! the seven inches of live gnarly human hair I've grown
especially for this engagement!
--LEARN! More about Tiger Tom than you've ever dreamed possible!
OF NOTE: Vic continues supplying new specific songs for specific shows with "THEY CALL HIM TIGER TOM". The show combines snippets of Vic's 1994 interview with Tom Jones in between Vic (dressed up a Tom)playing the Tom hits. Other lesser Jones covers like "Daughter of Darnkness" "Love Me Tonight" and the entire "Without Love were passed over. DJ Drink-A-Lot becomes DJ-On -The Wagon on this show and pass less attention to what his hands are doing than usual. This show was great fun although the turnout was sparse for Vic (t being a last minute gig) and Vic was heckled by a toothless trailer babe who kept saying "I don't get it" and "is this a joke" out loud between songs. As DJ noted, "if you're going to heckle, you have an obligation to be clever about it." When sad woman wondered aloud, "what i s the point" , Vic countered with "Your head is a point" to which she shut up but someone complained about Vic insulting "the regulars." THE GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME (TRACK BY THE CHARLES GREANE SOUNDE) is added for this second show to keep things different.
