BAND BIOG TIME!!!

So I suppose you want to know how we got to this point, do you? Well, read on and a lot should be cleared up...

In October 1997, a band named Vulgaria formed.

The band was scouted via post-its on pub walls and newsagent's windows asking for a a bassist and a drummer to form a 'cutting edge' band.

The line up was Mark 'Sharky' Kirby on vocals and guitar, Sean Toole on bass and, James 'Jim-Bob' Mullin on drums. They played a form of music somewhere between Sepultura and Biohazard, with some punk attitude thrown into the mix to make sure that it kept together.

A few demos followed. Just not very well produced ones. Or very good ones in general, to be honest.

In may 1998, Mark 'Marco' Hall was recruited as bassist, so Sean moved onto guitar the main guitar work (and, later, added programming and backing vox to his CV). Just a couple of months later, Paolo joined as the second (downtuned) guitarist and even more spare vocals. This meant Sharky had to concentrate on vocals only, unless one of them got 'flu or summat. Also meant he was less likely to chuck his guitar at members of the crowd if he didn't actually have one.

The moniker change came around this time, as did the sound, best described asWhite Zombie on HORRIBLE drugs with Fear Factory dosing 'em. They were experimenting, OK?

However, you will NEVER get a straight answer out of them as to why they chose THAT name as opposed to anything else.

The final changes to perfect themselves was when Ad C. joined on bass in the summer of '98, moving Marco onto keyboards/samples/etc.

The sound then moved on to a jam between Ministry, Pitchshifter, Tool and Korn.

By this time, Mushroom Records told 'em to go away after receiving a demo, with the phrase 'Sick, twisted and not commercially viable' standing out (TRULY!) in their (uneducated) opinion. Dang, that demo was restrained, did they listen to it? Fuck 'em...

After that, it was a line of demos and ballistic live shows to further enhance their reputation on the underground circuit, and a few more record deals coming and going. One label they ditched within 3 days of signing for 'em. Tad extreme, when you think about it.

They also got their first article printed in Autumn '99 in the industrial/alternative fanzine The Land of Rape & Honey, even though that happened to be MY part-time fanzine, so does that count?

Another change in the sound in mid-'99 (NIN/Deftones/Pitchshifter this time) finally led them to Holy Grail #1-a record deal they agreed with (on UrBan Renewal Inc.), complete with an album in the works.

Since then a bit of a reshuffle has happened in the ranks, with Marco quitting, before new members Lee* and Erik coming in as replacements, as well as to further the sound.

And now we're back to the present. What the future holds, who knows?
