Aunty Penny was one of the first women to sail on the Hokule`a in 1975. She talked about her experiences and showed slides of her journey. "She was really interesting" quoted one student. Students completed an activity showing the supplies you would take with you on a canoe to survive for a month. Most students picked items like junk food, board games, a CD player, and even some McDonald's foods. Those were not the best choices and through this activity we learned the necessities to pack to survive on the canoe.
