Just another little magnificent isle in Brittany. But you have to try what kind of peaceful feelings you can get here. It's really a world apart. You can have superb walking along the lonely and windy wild coast on the west coast. I had the chance to witness two superb gales, with majestic waves and superlative with horses, got a lot of magnificent pictures. But you can also relax on the quiet east coast, sheltered from the dominant west winds, and with a rare example of a superb convex sand beach, "les grandes sables" (the large sands), a strange phenomenon caused by the play of waves, tides and flowing. If you don't fear the cold water you can also try to take a bath. I had one, very refreshing, but unforgettable. The geological reserve of the Pointe des Chats, just near the lighthouse, is really interesting, with a fantastic variety of rocks shining in the sun. It's prohibited to take away samples. Absolutely charming are the little fisherman villages on the west coast. The cottages are small and cheerfully colored, with little blooming gardens. The atmosphere is really relaxing The call pier is Lorient, you can carry your car, the trip is about 1 hour, visit the web address of the ferry company for information about timetable and fares, and if you want to carry a car remember to book in advance, the boat is very little. A very good accommodation is to hire a cottage. I tried the Kerloret cottage, is wonderful and very comfortable with a warm fireplace and an in bloom garden. Make a think about a visit out of season; you'll have more chance to witness superb gales and to taste insularity. My best addresses:
