In the core of my being,a little girl waits Frozen in time, frozen in fear I assure her she's safe, I won't let them near. There's no trust in her eyes, and the anger is real. How can I blame her, with all she's been taught? My arms open wide, Is that a tear that I caught? Her emotions explode as she beats on my chest How could they hurt me whem I tried my best!? No matter how hidden and quiet and good She couldn't please them; as if she should. I hold her shaking body close to my heart. How could they hurt her!? It tears me apart! Slowly she calms and she lets me come in. I'm here now I tell her, through thick and through thin. Now I swear I can see a glimpse of trust in those eyes, As she reaches for me, and quietly cries.
