JACKIE SMARTT BRADY MANNING
On Monday December 15, 1997 at 11:30pm Jackie was shot to death with a 12 gauge shot-gun by her husband Paul Graham Manning while trying to flee during a domestic argument. Mr Manning also fired a shot at their 14 year old son but missed.
Jackie was a wonderful person and a great friend & coworker
The best way to describe Jackie was she loved life. With all the problems Jackie was having at home she never showed any signs at work. I am so sorry my friend that I could not do more to help you before it was to late.Why could I not see past your smiles that you needed help.Why did I let you convince me that he would never hurt you. Why did I not do something while you were still alive and could read how I feel about you. I will miss you very much and I will never forget you. I only hope that you can forgive me for not being their for you when you needed me.

| Many years ago my mother's best friend, who was
like a second mother to me, was strangled to death by her husband because she
wanted to divorce him. I still can not understand why he took such a beautiful
person away from all the people who loved her. I would just like to remind
everyone suffering abuse now to be strong but also to please be very careful
when trying to leave an abuser. Please get help from local agencies, friends,
and family before attempting to leave. So much violence occurs when the victim
tries to escape the situation, but if escapes are well planned many people can
leave and go on to lead happy, abuse free lives. For each of you currently
being abused there are people who love and support you even if you do not know
their names yet. I am certainly one of them as well as all the other people who
have contributed to this website. Please remember us if we can ever ease your
