One day, daddy comes home early

And finds a sight he shrieks to see

He yells and demands to know what goes on

And you're sent crying to your lonely room

Look at the hope in her eyes

She's waiting for her brother's big surprise

But evil lurks behind his smile;

He tricks her into filling his desires

She feels confused by the game

Mommy and daddy don't play with her this way

Something feels wrong about it all

But brother must be trustworthy, after all

I wish I could protect you, little girl

And save you from the evil of it all

He's invading you, little girl

And forcing you to hide within yourself

Brother makes you play "Simon Says"

But you don't want to be there

Inside, your heart and soul are screaming

But no sound is leaving your lips

I wish I could comfort you, little girl

And tell you, "You did nothing wrong"

You've been destroyed, little girl

And forced to hide within yourself

Sixteen years have passed since then

Mommy and daddy have long forgotten

And they give brother all the attention

But you're still crying in your lonely room

I wish I could help you, my darling

You know you did nothing wrong

For what it's worth, my darling

I've been exactly where you are

I'm here for you

And you're not alone!

I am looking for myself

Because that old pain is coming back

And it's making me feel lost

Can you tell me where I am?

I've been searching everywhere

For the answer to the "Why?"

No one seems to want to help

So I've chosen to turn to you

I didn't know after all this time

That I would still love you

But you see that I do

So please forgive me

If I lean on you

And someday I will be free

All of this time I've been asking "Why"

But only now do I realize:

Sometimes you wonder,

But you never really know

But someday I will be free
