Everyday we see stories reported on the news or in newspapers about child abuse. Most of the cases are extremely horrible, while some are down played as mild abuse. To me, abuse is abuse whether it is physical, emotional or sexual. I was a victim of sexual abuse in my childhood but God has delivered me from the pain and stigma of being abused. I no longer blame myself for the abuse and I don't hate the perpetrators for what they've done. I choose to live a life free from pain. I choose to forgive. I choose to let go of my past, so I can live in my future. I choose to let God take out of me that which is hidden. There are many children being abused in our country, and as a nation, we feel like we can't do anything about it. Well, the devil is a liar and there is something we can do. I'm not speaking for any organization, or from a psychological point of view, I speak of experience. What we can do as a country, as Christians, is PRAY. James 5:16 says, "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (KJV) Let's fight for our children (all children) by praying for them and educating them in this area. Talk with your children and make sure they know their bodies are the temple of the living God, and that no one should ever defile their temple. Prayer brings results. How do I know this? Because I prayed and NOW I'm healed. God's Word is real, active and works in my life. For the month of April, pray for our children and others affected by this horrible thing called child abuse. Remember, God's Word works! |
