By Monica Ware Treasures are something we hold near to our hearts. We treasure our possessions, memories and relationships. Regardless of the descriptions, earthly treasures cannot be trusted. They get lost, misplaced or even broken. When we put our trust in anything other than God, the bible says we're fools, and we will fall. (Prov. 11:28, 28:26) Trust is something God allows us to set our hearts upon. Trust is also a choice. You have a choice to trust, a choice to forgive, and a choice to love, even though you've been hurt or betrayed. Releasing your trust should not be measured by how you feel, but by the Word of God. Our feelings will lead us down the wrong path, if we follow them. Remember, in everything, we have a choice. So begin to trust God through your hurt. Living with anger, strife and unforgiveness destroys your true purpose. God has a great purpose and plan for you, but if you're blinded by anger, you can't successfully fulfill the call on your life. God commands us to forgive and to love, no matter what! He will repair what was broken in your heart. Trust Him! I've experienced great tragedy in my life, but through it all, I know I'm delivered. Was the hurt I experienced real? Oh yes, very real, but I know God was there with me! In His Word, I found comfort and peace. During my recovery of molestation, I found my righteousness. During betrayal, I found forgiveness and mercy. Oh, the pain was real, but so is the Word of God. I chose to obey the Word of God, rather than my feelings. It's hard when someone you love betrays you, but it feels so much better when you're healed and walk in forgiveness. I believe forgiveness helps the healing process. Imagine knowing your best friend is going to betray you. You know the exact day and time when she's going to share your most intimate and personal secrets. The day comes and she tells everything! Remember, you knew she was going to betray you. Do you forgive her? Are you hurt? Of course! How can you get through this? Follow Jesus! Jesus not only went through betrayal, but He knew who would betray Him, and when it would happen. Yes, He knew before it happened, yet He stayed faithful to His purpose. In Mark 9:31, Jesus told the disciples, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise." (NIV) Jesus knew everything, He also knew the outcome! He said, "...And after three days He will rise." No matter what you go through, know that God's promises out weigh your pain. In John 16:33b, the bible says, "...In the world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have over-come the world." Jesus conquered the world and everything in the world. That means your hurt, pain, disaster, whatever! Jesus had a purpose and plan for His life, and He fulfilled it to the end. He didn't let His enemies bother Him, nor loved ones disappoint Him. He knew His plan was to fulfill the Words of God, and He did. When you have trouble, please know it's not the trouble that makes you strong, but what you put your trust in. Make up your mind and say, "I will trust in the Lord!" Even though you have been betrayed, trust God through it. He will comfort your broken heart and bring you to a place of healing. The poem below is titled, "How Much More?" Consider the words, and let God comfort your heart. Be blessed! How Much More?
