What is the root of your conversation? How do you respond when you are faced with situations in your life? Do you speak the word of God, or do you speak the word of the world? Do you speak life, or do you speak death? "Death and Life are in the power of the tongue..." (Prov. 18:21a, KJV) Whether you speak life, or death, the Root Of Your Conversation is based upon what's in your heart. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak. (Matt. 12:34) So whatever is inside you is what comes out of you during your conversations. So, how do I make sure I have the right roots? I am glad you asked that question. There are three steps to getting the right kind of roots in your conversation. Step one: Guard your heart. What you allow in, and what you allow to stay in your heart, will take root. Guard your heart for out of it flows the issues of life. (Prov. 4:23) You cannot allow anything into your heart. Words are seeds. They enter your heart by what you see and hear. That is why you cannot just watch anything, (i.e., television shows or movies) or let anyone talk to you about anything. Whether you are seeing or hearing, seeds are being dumped into your heart. In order to have good roots, you must allow the word of God in your heart. This is done by going to church, listening to, or watching tapes, or by conversing with godly friends. Yes, godly friends! Your worldly friends cannot tell you what God says about anything, especially if you are going through a situation. You need godly counsel. (Ps. 1:1)
Remember, Jesus said you will have what so ever you say. (Mk. 11:23) So make sure that your conservation is rooted and grounded in the words of God. Nathaniel Ware is the husband of Monica Ware, Publisher & Founder of EVE.
