Living Beyond Loss

Families share how they cope with the loss of their loved ones during those special times of the year.

"In the past, Mother's Day and Father's Day was very painful for me to celebrate, because both my parents are deceased. Now I celebrate those who are still here like my mother in law, father in law and other women and men whom I love."

Monica Ware, EVE Founder & Publisher
New York

"The first year without my mother really bothered me. It was hard, but the Holy Spirit helped me to get through those difficult times. No one really understands how it feels unless you've been through it. I take comfort in knowing that my mother gave her life to the Lord and is now in Heaven."

Pattie Armstead, Ministry Leader
Columbus, GA

"Just knowing that both my parents are in Heaven helps me to get through bad times. I do miss my mother, but I just imagine her being with Jesus. She taught me about faith and how to pray. I got that from her, so it helps me a whole lot. God gives me grace and joy to overcome their loss, and difficult times in life. I wasn't as close with my dad, but I know he's in Heaven and I love him."

Adrienne Ware, Substitute Teacher
Kennesaw, GA

"Having kids helps to replace the loss of my mother. They keep me busy! We talk about my mother at times, but my kids help me by cooking me breakfast in bed, and giving me nice gifts for Mother's Day. I also send my daughter's godmother a Mother's Day card because she's like a mother figure to me."

Diana Richardson, Poet and Writer
Orlando, FL
