EVE'S GRAND PRIZE WINNER
FROM OUR INSPIRING WOMEN CONTEST

Deserie Johnson is a remarkable woman of God. Her entry into our contest is a poetic testimony about her life. "God's grace is evident in Deserie's powerful testimony of trials and tribulation translated through poetry in her debut book, "Black Butterfly, Soaring On The Wings Of Poetry." Deserie is looking forward to advancing God's kingdom by holding on to His unchanging hand and introducing everyone to the God of second chances!" Deserie believes, "As long as you have breath, you have a chance!" Excerpts taken from her book, "Black Butterfly, Soaring on the Wings of Poetry."

Deserie Johnson, Capitol Heights, MD
I once knew a young lady who was into a few things that were shady.
She was lost and deep in her sin, she wouldn't let anyone in.
Her heart was getting hard and cold, which is what aided in making her bold.
She started stripping and selling her body, always looking for the next party.
She slept with over 140 men, when they no longer satisfied, she tried women.
She had no regard for her girlfriend...or boyfriend...or her man's friend,
Because that lust thing was so deep within.
She played out most of her sexual fantasies, you know,
like sex with two or three...it seemed everyone was fair game.
She didn't see that this behavior was insane.
She'd been verbally abused and physically beat, she'd lost most of her self esteem.
She would lie, steal and cheat, she'd do whatever it took to eat.
See, she had two children to feed, so she made excuses for every deed.
She was pregnant seven times by seven different guys, but only two are alive.
She aborted the other five.
She did things to seal her own fate, like transporting weight.
Boy, was she getting in over her head,
committing crimes to send her straight to the feds...or dead.
She smoked weed morning, noon and night,
Sshe drank only to enhance her high.
She was Dr. Jekyll/Mrs. Hyde.
If you had met her, you wouldn't know that she had a dark side.
She ran her own business, but she was lacking self confidence.
She got close to what she thought was the top,
Before everything seemed to stop.
Her debt was out of control,
she was losing her very soul.
She had beauty and intelligence, but she couldn't see,
That satan had sifted her as wheat.
It all came to a crashing finality,
When she was hit with a dose of reality.
She lost every material thing, when she was forced into bankruptcy.
And just as she took the pills and decided to give up, God said to satan,
That is ENOUGH!
She is one of My chosen few and I won't lose her to you.
You've done all that I'll let you do,
Now I'm releasing her from all you've exposed her to.
She'll have another chance to serve Me, so from her you must flee!
I introduce you to Deserie, yes the she in this story is me.
A walking testimony who should've been in jail, dead or dying,
But instead God heard my crying.
And it is only by God's saving grace that I am now able to save face.
As you read the pages of my life, through my feelings,
You'll witness the miracle of God's great healing.
I am before you today, transparent in every way.
God's using a wretch like me to show His people, they too can be set free.
To God be the glory!

EVE'S 2ND & 3RD PLACE WINNERS
From our "Inspiring Women Contest"

Mary Miller, Stanford, KY
EVE's 2nd Place Winner

"I would like to share two mothers with you, my daughters, Paula and Jennifer. Paula is so wonderful, she is a single parent with three children, and I admire her so much for that. She is truly God lead. Jennifer is married, but had been fighting cancer for almost two years and is now cancer free. She is also a wonderful Mother to her boys.

I was a young mama at the age of 16, and I didn't set a very good example for my girls. But God, He gave me favor, and a lot of hits on the head.

I give all the praise to my Lord, Jesus Christ, for always being there for me and my wonderful little girls, who grew up to be two great mothers. I pray that young girls will read this, and be blessed!"

Danielle Hampton, Radcliff, KY
EVE's 3rd Place Winner

The woman that inspires me the most is not a movie star. Her beauty out shines any star. She's not an athlete, but her endurance is stronger that an athlete.

When she sought help from Jesus, she was not welcomed. But the words she spoke, changed her life and those around her. What were those words? "Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table." When she spoke those words, her daughter was healed. The woman that inspires me is the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28. Jesus didn't have to heal her daughter, but He did according to her faith.

She inspires me to press on, no matter what people think, or say about me. I am going to get what I came on this earth for, and I will not leave until I do! I thank God for allowing her story to be put in the bible. My prayer to you is that she will inspire you to go on, no matter what!
