What's New: The holidays are here!
The holidays are a great time to get together with friends and family, but doesn't it seem like there is so much food around during this season? If it isn't the office Christmas party its those tempting sweets everyone is baking. Its no wonder people gain between 5-10 lbs. during the holidays.

Before you go out and buy a new wardrobe due to weight gain, here are some tips to help you deal with all that holiday food.

TIP#1 Moderation
Before you rush the buffet table remember moderation is the key. You may love oven-roasted turkey and homemade mashed potatoes covered with gravy, but don't you think you should have some veggies with that? Remember to eat a little of everything including those vegetables and fruits. That will help ensure you are getting a more nutritious meal along with those food that are lower in calories/fat.

TIP#2 Eat your cake
One of the hardest things about eating a healthy diet is cutting back on sweets. Just because you are trying to watch your weight doesn't mean you can't touch a piece of candy. Go ahead and have some, but don't eat the whole box. Moderation is the key and as long as you are eating foods that are lower in fat/calories you can afford to live a little. Denying yourself an occasional treat may cause you to binge later on.

TIP#3 Opt for natural sweets
While its OK to have a little piece of pie or a couple cookies, its also a great idea to eat some sweets Mother Nature made just for you. Eat some fruits to help satisfy those cravings.

TIP#4 Choose wisely
When it comes to eating, decide on what you have to have and what you can do without. Do you really have to butter your bread? Won't a tall glass of water quence your thirst much better than that soda? Why get the cheesecake when the apple pie looks just as good? A few sacrifices here and there will cut calories/fat.

TIP#5 Eat at home
Before you leave for that office party, eat a light nutritious meal or snack at home. You will be less tempted to eat those fattening foods and desert since you won't be as hungry. Just make sure you save room for a few items.

TIP#6 Drink up!
Drinking liquids helps curb your appetite. However, that doesn't mean you should drink a couple vodka tonics before dinner. Avoid alcohol, which lowers your metabolism and is high in calories, and opt for low calorie beverages.
