In a world constantly struggling to
understand everyone's differences, we still have a chance to converge so that we
can appreciate our similarities. The Jacksonville Gay Chorus strives to
promote an enthusiastic environment for everyone to enjoy. Gayety
stimulates and enlightens our audiences as well as our chorus members. We
must provide venues for these types of activities to occur, and this is what the
Jacksonville Gay Chorus is trying to accomplish.
People, who, with all of their differences, can peacefully celebrate their diversity. It unifies us as a single body of people for a moment of time. Every member will tell you that it is a total joy to see an audience full of smiles and to hear the song of laughter during a performance. That, in itself, is the tremendous reward we receive every curtain call. Together we have been able to endure the test of time, triumphs and tragedies. Our mission can be best summarized as: "Celebrating diversity through music." Celebrating diversity through music may sound like an easy task, but we can tell you that it can be quite challenging. Sure, any celebration is worth having, especially those that involve recognizing our differences and appreciating each other for them. In an effort to encourage an atmosphere that fosters this attitude as well as conveys it in a professional manner, the Jacksonville Gay Chorus has adopted a philosophy that transcends moral and ethical standards. Our vision, like our mission, is simple and is said:"To be recognized as a performing arts and education organization, utilizing music to unite diverse communities."
