Cape Town is a sprawling city surrounded by mountains and sea. It has some great downhill rides like Tokai forest, Newlands forest, Silvermyn forest and then for the road cyclists, plenty of scenic routes, past forests, mountain passes and along the rugged coastline . Not far from Cape Town are great rides like Stellenbosch, Franschoek, Paarl and Helderberg. All within an hours drive from the city centre. In
March every year is the famous Argus Cycle Tour, a gruelling ±104km
ride. It attracts over 30 000 entrants from all round the world. And takes
in some of the most beautiful scenery, with a rollercoaster ride over
some gruelling hills. I ride a Diamond back Apex with Manitou shocks, and my girlfriend rides a Diamond Back Sorrento. My last bike was a Giant Sedona, which unfortunately was stolen. I haven't been as daring on my down hills, since I came off last year at a high speed and nearly broke my collar bone. I'm busy getting info on MTB clubs in the Cape Town area, and also up coming events, contacts, news. |
