ocean sunfish, or Mola mola, can reach 2300 Kg (5100 lbs). But they are part of the order Tetraodontiformes, which emerged about 40 million years ago and has no close relatives. What relatives they have seem to be around coral reefs, not in the open ocean where the ocean sunfish lives. Furthermore, the ocean sunfish eats jelly fish which because they are not closely related to vertibrates are unlikely to carry a disease that would infect the ocean sunfish. -!>
