Well, we all were certainly shocked by the season four finale! I don't think anyone could have predicted that. Now, I will tally up all they responses I get, and will then announce the consensus of the visitors. Is he dead. Well, I don't think so, and neither do my friends. My brother has this theory (and and X-Files page) that David Duchovny will pop up in the season finale of the fifth season and will save Scully just before she gets brutally eliminated. But, I said that's not likely to happen. The X-Files might lose him if this occurs. Yeah right, like that will happen. But I would like to mention that there is a chance that Mulder is dead (for me, the probability is 1 in 1,000,000,000,000) but I made a chart and if you have any more ideas to add to it, or if something is wrong please email me at mullder@writeme.com.
Reasons he's not dead:
- In the information about the X-Files movie (which continues off of this year's season finale) Carter stated that Duchovny and Anderson will be playing Mulder and Scully. So if Mulder's dead, how is he alive next season?
- If the alien body was faked, couldn't Mulder's body have been?
- Scully only took a few seconds to ID the body. If he was shot in the face, wouldn't he be harder to recognize?
- Scully didn't seem very upset.
- The ratings for the X-Files the highest in many years.
- Mulder could have faked his own death to have some time to search for the truth.
- Someone could have kidnapped Mulder and faked his body.
- A hunted Fox eventually dies.
- Chris Carter may quit.
- They wanted to end the show on a high note.
- Merchandise will stopped being produced, it will become rarer to have anything relating to The X-Files, and FOX would get more money.
- FOX could sell the re-runs to other stations for high prices.
