When Krycek first appeared, many viewers saw him as a new Mulder. But, we later saw that he was just a puppet for Cancerman. After killing Mulder's father and Scully's sister, Cancerman tried to get rid of him. The bomb that Cancerman had planted in Kryceks car went off, but Krycek managed to escape just seconds before. He then fled, with the digital he stole from Cancerman, to Hong Kong. Later he reappeared in the episode "Piper Maru". When betrays Mulder in a later episode, he loses his arm in a attempt to not be captured.
