Joss Whedon
Biography: Whedon was born on June 23, 1964. He
graduated from Wesleyan University class of 1987. In the late 80s he became a
writer for the TV series Roseanne. In 1990 he co-produced the TV sitcom
Parenthood. He then wrote the film version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in '92
(there's also a student film he made of Buffy when he was in college). He
finally got the Buffy series off to a start on the WB in 1997 after an
unsuccessful pilot was made for the Fox network. He helped on the screen
treatment for the X-Men feature film (none of his suggestions were used in the
film). The Buffy episode "Hush" was nominated for an Emmy award in
2000.
He currently has a new contract with Fox to produce new series
in addition to Buffy which will move to UPN this fall and Angel on the WB. Two
new series will be an animated Buffy series to be shown on Fox and a spin-off
featuring Giles to be aired on the BBC.
