Sixth Generation (Continued)

James E. Bucklew has Andrew's yob as 1808.

Another source says that he died of consumption 2 May 1849.

In material sent to Les Buckalew on 18 July 1997 (Rcv'd 23 July 1997) Sharon Bucklew D'Anna has him dying 2 May 1849. In the same correspondence, Sharon sent a nice letter and pedigree charts of her ancestry back to Andrew Bucklew, b. 1731 So. Amboy, Middlesex Co., NJ. She also sent family group sheets Nathan Parker Bucklew, James E. Pearl Bucklew, William James Bucklew, and her father Robert Eugene Bucklew. Previously, I had data down to and including Robert Eugene Bucklew, but I did not have his children or later descendants. Sharon's material supplemented mine in that she had some details of names, dates and places that I did not have, and I had some of the same kind of details that she did not have. Our data agreed essentially, and I sent her printouts of our data combined. There were only minor differences in our data, differences which are indicated and spelled out in notes accompanying printouts sent.

1850, 11 Sep; Coshocton Co., OH Census.

She as a widow with her family migrated with Richard Willis and his family to marion Co., IA in 1854. This would seem to support the report of her husband's death date being 2 May 1849.

"She is buried in the Dallas Cemetery, Dallas, Marion Co., Iowa, in the Bucklew family plot next to Wm. J. Bucklew and wife Mary. Her tombstone reads 'Eleanor, wf of James 15 Nov 1865 - 57 y 7 m 14 d.'"

Mary Mellor Smail wrote the following on page 4 of her booklet "Mellor Roots and Branches": "For information on the Bucklew branch, we are indebted to Lawrence and Julia Bucklew of Warsaw for supplying material which he had just gatered din a genealogy course. Ingabee's father was Parker Bucklew who had owned a good river bottom farm south of Blissfield between Co. Rd. 49 and State Route 60. On the farm is a small cemetery in which he and other family members, including William and Engabee (Bucklew) Hughs, are buried. Parker Bucklew's wife was Elizabeth Matheny . They had a large family with Inbabee being the ninth. Parker's parents were James and Sarah (Parker) Bucklew who also had several children. Later, he married Jane Fling and had several more children, including James John and George. These three are ancestors of the Bucklews in the Killbuck area. Along the way, one branch chang3ed the name spelling to Bucklew, and Rodney and Reo were among these.
The Bucklews were of Scottish ancestry. They came to New Jersey in the early 1700l's, later moved to Loudon Co., VA, and then on to Monongalia Co., VA (later that part of the state became W.Va.). From there they came to Ohio, up the Muskingum Valley to Coshocton Co. about 1817. We have more information on the Bucklews in our files if anyone is interested..."
