Segun los autores Novak, Hoffman y Yung,(dic 1997 y May 1998) al navegar por la red los usuarios suelen entrar en Enganche o Flow, cuya estructura se compone de
  • la experiencia mayor del "enganche" o flow
  • los correlatos cercanos a la experiencia del "enganche", tales como el ánimo lúdico o sensación de querer seguir jugando (playfulness)
  • los antecedentes del enganche ( flow), incluyendo habilidad (skill), control, desafío (challenge), interactividad (interactivity), atención en foco (focused attention), cebado (arousal), telepresencia ( telepresence);
  • las consecuencias del enganche, incluyendo un cierto afecto positivo de cuasi-felicidad ( positive affect) y conducta exploratoria (exploratory behavior).

Para la nomenclatura usada en las dos figuras previas, es interesante ver los cuestionarios usados en la investigación denominada GVU en 1998, en el Apéndice B que sigue a continuación. La voz "Exuse" significa la expectativa de uso en el futuro de la navegación en red. Las encuestas distribuidas entre los usuarios de la red, inclidas en la 7a GVU Survey, se enumeran en el Apéndice B de Novak, Hoffman & Yung (1998).
