MOMMY FOR A DAY

In this episode, all flaming heck breaks loose when Molly finds a cute pet with a special talent, and has to run from the evil man who hunts it.

Karmacat's Thoughts

Two things to say about this episode. #1) The late-night-doobie-smoking-writer has struck again. #2) MAWWWWMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY!!!!
I like this episode, and considering that neither Don Karnage nor Shere were in it, that's speaks pretty highly. And strangely enough, I don't know why I like it. I just DO. I want a big funny pink thing to play with. I could give it water so it would grow really big and I could have it sit on the people at school whom I don't care for.
I think one of the things that i liked about this episode was the relationship between Molly and Rebecca, despite the fact that i have a low opinion of Molly. Sometimes I just want to slap that kid. But I digress. I suppose every child with a working parent feels that way sometimes, that the mother never has time for them. And seeing as Molly is an attention hog (She's a Leo, I'm absolutely SURE of it), she needs a lot of her mother's time. Poor Becky. Nyeh. So anyway, this episode is going pretty well, and seems kind of emotional and realistic, until it takes a trip into....the BIZARRE!
Molly and the Magenta Sponge Monster, I think, although I did like the way this was done. The thinger was nicely animated, especially when it feels threatened and resorts to PUSHING THE BATHROOM WALL IN! It just leans right over and pushes that sucker in. I wish I could do that. What was the pink thinger called? An Encara? Atari?
Okay, Ugly Hunter Dude. Me no likey Ugly Hunter Dude. He was just plain nasty. There are a lot of attractive villains on this show, two of which I'm having in depth affairs with, but this guy just wasn't one of them. He looked like something I coughed up when I had pneumonia really bad. He was the most unappealing character I've seen yet. Just the way he talked and the way he wanted to shoot everything he saw. That $%@^& even yelled at Molly! Not that she didn't deserve it, but still, she's like three! Mr. Percy, come back to me! At least you're civilized!
I liked the pink thing. He's cuddly. Did I mention that? He's just a big sumptin-sumptin, that thing. Oddness. Molly and Kit flying on the thing's back. Very weird to look at.
Beckers kicked some serious ass in this episode. When she tackled hunter guy when he was trying to fire at the pink thing (vague?) I cheered. We need more of Becky tackling people. And then she bailed herself out of the plane by a rope to get Molly! Dang, that girl can be such a STUD!!
Hey, Molly's middle name is Elizabeth! I did not know that.
The funniest scene in this show was when Rebecca was working and Molly went running by with the wagon full of food for the swiftly growing pink thing. That was so smooth for a little kid. And another good Molly moment was when she threw the canteen of water at the pink thing when Ugly Hunter Dude was holding it. Go Molly, go! But I hated the way she kept bitching at Kit when he kept saving her ass. Die Molly, die!
Interesting ponderation: Ugly Hunter Dude said that the skins of the pink things were worth a fortune. Why? What good can they be? I mean, you can't make a shirt out of it. Get it wet and it's way too big, dry it up and your ribs will be crushed. A purse wouldn't be good either; one minute you've got a duffle, the next minute you've got a Barbie evening bag. Ugly Hunter Dude doesn't think of these things, though. He just shoots stuff.
And that's all you have to do when you're Ugly Hunter Dude.
So anyway, I got my baby Shere one of those for his birthday (which happens to be twelve days from now and his favorite cake happens to be coconut, at least, for those of us who watch Jungle Cubs). It keeps him company while he works. He likes to roll it around on his desk.
So all in all, I enjoyed this one, even though my babies weren't in it, and even though it was about Molly the Annoyance.
In closing, my buddy Richard, (upon whom the character of Gabriel is based in my upcoming fanfic "Thy Fearful Symmetry" coming soon to a DAFT Archive near you), had this to say about the episode "Mommy For A Day":
"I think at the end, Molly should wake up, in college, asleep on a piece of pizza - she'd just sit up and go "Whoa. Bad Shlager", and go back to sleep." Richard's pretty cool. Until next time, kids.
