The Usurpers

Ginger, a long-haired tortie, and Jasmine, a 6-pound calico, are our newest cats, adopted this Christmas after they had been abandoned near my sister-in-law's. After several years of saying, "NO MORE CATS!" all it took was one look at their little faces pressed against her window for Preston to say, "Awwwwww, we'll take them!" They're slowly getting used to the McNeil, whose natural herding instincts kick in when they appear downstairs, and they maintain a standoffish relationship with Emily, who isn't happy about losing her basket on the table by the computer to "the usurpers". They're good mousers, quite fond of catnip, a laser light beam and pom poms are their favorite toys, and we sometimes wake up to the "thudthudthud" of cats racing around the house in the middle of the night. Life with three cats is entertaining, to say the least.
