I met Preston in 1975 when a friend I worked with at the school said, and I quote, "Have I got a guy for you!" Must have been true, for we were engaged after 2 1/2 weeks and recently celebrated our 25th anniversary. (Caution: Do NOT try this at home.) Preston is also a Washington native, born in Seattle and graduated from Newport High School in Bellevue, WA in 1969. He then attended Washington State University, where he majored in advertising. After college he began his retail career.
For the last 15 years he has been involved in our church Royal Ranger program and is currently the Senior Commander of NW District Outpost #147. He is also active in the Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship (FCF), which is for the older boys and men in Royal Rangers. This group wears clothing and uses equipment circa 1860's, so I have learned new skills such as sewing buckskin pants and tents. Preston is becoming quite an accomplished cook with cast iron and has acquired quite a collection from scouting out all the yard sales in the area. And we're probably one of the only families I know of with a hand-built chuck wagon in their garage. Lost Dog (Luke 19:10) sends his greetings to any of you FCF'ers out there.

He recently began to pursue a new career with Farmer's Insurance. This is a field that uses many of his skills learned from retail management. Preston's a real people person and looks on this career as an opportunity to serve his community.

Preston had a bout two years ago with the disorder Bell's Palsy, a facial paralysis that is now believed to be caused by a herpes virus, the same one that causes cold sores. Many adults have had Bell's Palsy and may not even know that they did. He has recovered nicely, with almost total use of his facial muscles restored due in part to quick treatment. For those who may know of someone with the condition, or those who may just be interested in learning more, these sites will be of interest: |
