20 Jan 2002 - SURNAMES.  Another update of the ERB / LARKINS Database. There are now 4,820 entries and 850 sources. The database is located at Rootsweb World Connect where you can download gedcoms, pedigrees, descendants, and registers.

11 Jan 2002 - The Mysterious Christian Erb 1703 . Updated to include more details about errors in the treatment of Christian in the books "A Biographical History of Waterloo Township" (1896) by Ezra Eby and "The Wenger Book" (1958) by Samuel Wenger.

9 Jan 2002 - ERB Wills in Lancaster County, PA . Several new will abstracts have been added: Jacob Erb b.1724, Jacob Erb b.c1746, Jacob Erb b.1783, John Erb b.1756, and Samuel Erb b. c1777.

30 Nov 2001 - SURNAMES.  Another update of the ERB / LARKINS Database. There are now 4,753 entries (including 284 alternate names). The database is located at Rootsweb World Connect where you can download gedcoms, pedigrees, descendants, and registers.

10 Nov 2001 - Revised Death Date for Nicholas (Claus) Erb 1680. Added some extra identifying information for some of Nicholas's neighbors in Lancaster County in the 1740s and 1750s.

31 Oct 2001 - SURNAMES.  Another update of the ERB / LARKINS Database. There are now 4,619 entries, 1,292 ERBs, and 821 sources. The database is located at Rootsweb World Connect where you can download gedcoms, pedigrees, descendants, and registers.

23 Sep 2001 - SURNAMES.  This is the first update of the ERB / LARKINS Database in almost a year. There are now more than 4,500 individuals, and more than 775 sources. The total number of ERBs is now 1,266 -- 40 more than in October 2000. The database is located at Rootsweb World Connect where you can download gedcoms, pedigrees, descendants, and registers.

27 Aug 2001 - The 23 Erb Families in the 1790 Census. Revised some details for Ludwig 1749, identified Christian 1734 as the Christopher of Franklin County, and added a discussion of the difficulties in identifying the four known Christian Erbs from Warwick Township.
22 Aug 2001 - Erbs in Poplar Church Cemetery in Cumberland County.. Added photos, tombstone transcriptions from "Erb's Row", and proposed identifications for this early Lutheran cemetery.
9 May 2001 - The Six Separate ERB Lines. . Added a table showing the several lines of ERB descendants that did not originate from Nicholas (Claus) Erb, with links to additional information about each.
7 May 2001 - Descendants of Henry Erb c1740. . Added 14 new descendants and some new birthdates -- based on information from the 1870 and 1880 censuses of Martic Twp., Lancaster Co. provided by Catherine Paystrup.
5 May 2001 - ERBs from Alsace.. Added the known family lines of early ERBs who immigrated to the U.S. and Canada from Alsace, France, plus some background information, a map, and links to Alsatian Erb researchers.
5 May 2001 - Photo of the 1818 Judge's Bond of Abraham Erb c1788.. Includes his signature, as well as several others, plus a list of names, dates, and places associated with this original document.
6 Feb 2001 - The 11 ERB Immigrants to Colonial Pennsylvania.. Added what I believe to be a complete list of the ERBs who immigrated prior to the Declaration of Independence, with brief descriptions and a number of links to more detailed information.
20 Jan 2001 - Descendants of Henry Erb c1740.. Added a number of new descendants plus more specific dates for some of the people previously listed.
7 Jan 2001 - Erb Mysteries -- Meshack, Esther, and Henry.. Added a speculative essay on the possibility that Henry Erb c1740 may have been the father of two other stray Erbs, Meshack and Esther, both of Lampeter Twp. in Lancaster Co. Plus a list of their descendants.
29 Dec 2000 - Search This Site. Finally added a customized search engine just for this site. (Others I have tried produced more misses than hits.) It works especially well with combinations of names and places. For the usual surnames search, keep using the "SURNAMES" link at the top of the Home page which accesses the search engine for the main ERB / LARKINS Database at Rootsweb.
18 Oct 2000 - Erbs in the 1790 Census. Revised the discussion of Christopher Erb of Franklin Co., Pennsylvania to exclude the possibility that he was the Christopher Erb (1748-1810) known from Frederick Co., Maryland.
11 Oct 2000 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added 15 new ERB marriages:
1 BOWMAN, 5 GERBER, 5 KAUFFMAN, 2 MILLER, 1 SHANTZ, and 1 SNYDER.
11 Oct 2000 - SURNAMES.  This is the first update of the ERB / LARKINS Database in six months. There are now over four thousand individuals, and over six hundred sources. The total number of ERBs is now 1,226 -- 163 more than in March 2000. The database is located at Rootsweb World Connect where you can download gedcoms, pedigrees, descendants, and registers.

11 Oct 2000 - Descendants of Nicholas (Claus) Erb.  Use this link to go to Nicholas's page and use the "descendancy" option.   Ancestors of Nicholas (Claus) Erb 1680.  And use this link to go to Nicholas's page and use the "pedegree" option. These are interactive lists where every name is linked to that individual's complete data page. This information is much more current and complete that the earlier lists on this site, which are now superceded.

30 Mar 2000 - LARKINs Living in San Francisco in 1889. Added a list of the 27 LARKINs in the 1889 San Francisco City Directory - with occupations and addresses.
28 Mar 2000 - The Irish Neighbors of William Larkins. Added a list of the people living next to William on Dorland Street in San Francisco in 1899. All their surnames are Irish.
28 Mar 2000 - 1899 Carriage-builders. Added a list of the men building carriages at Larkins & Co. in San Francisco.
16 Mar 2000 - Revised Death Date for Nicholas (Claus) Erb 1680. Added a new page which presents the text of the original deeds that prove Nicholas did not die in 1740. He was still alive in 1752, at the age of 72, and may even have been alive in 1755. Everyone who has the 1740 death date should revise it to "after Apr 1752".
16 Mar 2000 - SURNAMES 1 (Geocities), SURNAMES 2 (Rootsweb), and SURNAMES 3 (My-ged.com). All three formats of the ERB / LARKINS database have been updated. Since July 1999 there are 667 new individuals, 259 new families, and 103 new ERBs. (The total number of ERBs is now 1,054.)
16 Mar 2000 - Database Details. A comparison of the different SURNAMES formats now includes a more detailed discussion of the advantages of using the Rootsweb version.
16 Mar 2000 - Outline of the Descendants of Nicholas Erb. I have NOT updated the outline on this site, which is now 8 months old. It has been superceeded by the better and more up-to-date outline at my Rootsweb site. You can access the complete outline of descendants there by going to Nicholas (Claus) Erb and clicking on "Descendants".
26 Feb 2000 - The Past in Pictures. Added 3 new photos: Joseph L. ERB 1828 and his second wife Adelia SEAMANS, George Albert ERB 1878 and his unidentified grandmother, plus George's sister Mary Ann ERB 1871 with her mother Charlotte BRIGHTON and daughter Annie KEITH. The unidentified grandmother may be Mary CLEMENS, Martha CLEMENS, or Amy (Emma) WILLSON.
21 Feb 2000 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added 1 new BAUMAN marriage, 4 new CLEMENS marriages, 6 new GROFF marriages, 1 new HERSHEY marriage, 3 new KELLER marriages, and 11 new MEYERS marriages. And dropped from the list families with only 3 ERB marriages.
15 Dec 1999 - Horse & Buggy Days in San Francisco. Added a new picture of a 1920's Packard Roadster with its custom-made Larkins Top.
23 Oct 1999 - New ERB / LARKINS Database at Rootsweb. The same Gedcom file surname information that is on this site is now also on Rootsweb in a different and superior format. There are two search engines available: One allows you to search within the database by name and location; the other allows a global search to see if additional information is available on any of the other new WorldConnect Project databases at Rootsweb. As more databases go online there, this will become an increasingly valuable resource -- comparable to GENDEX. (Anyone with a Gedcom file can establish their own database at Rootsweb for free. Check out the "Add your GEDCOM" link at the bottom of the page.) The Rootsweb format has no popup ads and gives each individual a separate data page with linked ascendency and decendency charts. The descendant outlines there have more complete dates and are easier to work with than the Outline of the Descendants of Nicholas Erb available here.

3 Oct 1999 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added 7 new BAUMAN / BOWMAN marriages and 3 new BEARs.
1 Oct 1999 - Erb Wills in Lancaster County, PA. Updated this list by changing 1 attribution and adding 5 new will abstracts.
21 Sep 1999 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added 7 new MILLER marriages.
1 Sep 1999 - Christian Erb 1703. Updated this essay to reflect recent email from Daniel Lee Wenger, who will no longer be listing Christian 1703 as the father of Christian 1734 at the next Wenger Project site update.
25 Jul 1999 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added three new BRUBACHER marriages and four new BOMBERGERs.
24 Jul 1999 - Complete Outline of the Descendants of Nicholas Erb. This is another major update that adds a year's worth of new material to the former outline, including about 200 new ERBs. If you have already used the old outline, you'll find a few changed dates and relationships in the new one. The new information supercedes the old.
22 Jul 1999 - New Email Address. The new email address for John Larkins is jhlarkins@msn.com. The old email address -- omnos@msn.com -- will no longer function after July 25, 1999. Please update your address books, and let me hear from you.

22 Jul 1999 - Surnames1. Updated the genealogy database with 681 new individuals, 227 new families, and 101 new ERBs. (The total number of ERBs is now 951.) This is a major revision that incorporates seven months of new acquisitions and adds many new details to the existing material. Also found a way to suppress the anoying popup ads on all the gedcom pages. (Instead, you'll find a lot of fixed geoguide ads, but they can be scrolled out of view without waiting and clicking.)
14 Jul 1999 - Christophel Erb. Revised this page to exclude the possibility that Christophel was a feminine nickname for Magdalena and to raise the question of whether "Christophel" might have grown up to be "Christopher."
21 Jun 1999 - Christian Erb 1703. Extensively revised and expanded my remarks on the misidentification of Christian 1703 as the father of Christian 1734. With links to web pages that take different positions on this issue.
18 Jun 1999 - Christophel Erb. Added a small page about someone who may or may not be a child of Nicholas Claus.
16 Jun 1999 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added a new BRICKER marriage.
10 Jun 1999 - Erbs in the 1790 Census. Added details to three more of the 23 Erb families. Michael, Jacob, and Lawrence Erb of Northampton Co. are now definitely identified as brothers.
6 Jun 1999 - Erbs in the 1790 Census. Added details to two of the 23 Erb families. Christopher Erb has been identified and the names of Messach Erb's children added.
15 Apr 1999 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added a new SHIRK marriage and prettied up the page.
10 Apr 1999 - Ahnentafel. Added 4 new ancestors: KAY and FENBY in the 1800s, plus STEINER, and BICHSEL in the 1550s -- the last two found on the new LDS web site.
3 Apr 1999 - Surnames2. Updated the genealogy database with 344 new individuals, including 111 new ERBs, to reach totals of over 2,500 individuals
and over 860 ERBs. Added the full group of Casper ERB's descendants in Montgomery Co., PA, plus other ERB families in Northampton, and Franklin Counties and some new ERBs in Michigan, Ilinois, and Wisconsin. (A similar update for Surnames1 is coming soon.)
3 Apr 1999 - ERBs in the 1790 Census of Pennsylvania. Added a cross-section of all the Erbs in America at the time of the First Census of the United States -- with identifications and brief biographies of each.
3 Apr 1999 - Residents of 1857-1879 Otterville, Canada. . Added a list of the ERB, SCANLAN, SEAMONS and other interrelated families that lived together in what is now South Norwich, Ontario for a brief twenty year period before many of them emigrated to Michigan.
3 Apr 1999 - LARKIN Convicts to Australia. Added a full index of all the Larkin convicts transported from Ireland -- with full details from the original English records and links to additional sources.
30 Jan 1999 - Erb Wills in Lancaster County, PA. Added a list of the 27 Erbs whose wills were filed in Lancaster Co. from 1727 to 1850 -- identifying, where possible, the individuals involved.
22 Jan 1999 - Erb Marriage Alliances . Added 5 new BURKHOLDERs, 6 new EBYs, and 1 new BRICKER to the list.
26 Dec 1998 - Erb Marriage Alliances . Added some HERSHEY-ERB marriages.
2 Dec 1998 - Surnames1. Updated the genealogy database with 99 new individuals and 39 new families. Added information about the SHRANTZ family that came to Pennsylvania along with Nicholas Erb's family on the Charming Nancy in 1737. And added some newly uncovered descendants of the family of Joseph ERB 1828 and his second wife Adelia SEAMONS from their children born in Roanoke, VA.
26 Nov 1998 - The Photo Album. Introduced a 17-page set of captioned photos of people and places with links between photos, links to the family trees of each individual, and links to off-site information.
26 Nov 1998 - Erb Marriage Alliances. Added some SHIRK and MARTIN marriages.
21 Nov 1998 - Ancestors (Modified Ahnentafel]. Revised and added to the ancestors of Mary Shirk 1734, carrying the SHIRK line back to the mid-1500s in the Emmental Valley of Canton Bern, Switzerland.
2 Oct 1998 - Surnames1. Revised the database format from GedPage to Ged2HTML. Added extra Gedcom Tags such as CENSUS, IMMIGRATION, OCCUPATION, PROPERTY, and WILL. And included source links for each item of information.
