According to a letter from her sister Ida, Mary Etta was a hired girl in the Ed Morrison household and tended to Nellie and their son Omer when they took sick and died.

Mary Etta united with the Christian Church at North English at the age of 14. Her many home duties kept her from active work in the church, but she was always a faithful member. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother (to her stepchildren as well as her own) and was never too busy to minister to the needs, not only of her own large family, but those of her many friends and neighbors.

According to her daughter Ruth, Mary Etta was very busy running the household and made all their clothes. But she always had time to read a bedtime story. She had beautiful long hair that she always brushed. She never scolded a child, she just had to give them a look.

Mary Etta's birthplace of Humboldt Co., Iowa is given on her daughter Ruth's birth certificate, for one place, at least. Other than that, I haven't seen anything that said her parents lived anywhere other than the N. English vicinity.
