Elizabeth and Frank moved to the Waterloo area shortly after their marriage, as they are there by 1872 when Frank, Jr. was born. About 1887 they moved to the Sheldon and Ashton area in Lyon Co., in northwest Iowa. In about 1902 they moved to Graceville, Minnesota.

Frank opened one of the first businesses in Graceville, MN in 1902. It was a combination furniture store, hardware store and mortuary. Their sons Thomas and Eugene both went to Mortuary College in St. Paul, MN.
