20-24 Weeks

Well, here's the update of my 5th month of pregnancy! There hasn't really been anything new or exciting going on this month, so you really haven't missed much, as far as the week to week updates go!

I am definitely getting bigger, as far as my belly goes! I am at the "cute" stage of pregnancy, where I still feel pretty good, can move around pretty comfortably, and am not begging for my due date to come! I am having a little bit more trouble sleeping at night...for some reason, I'm very tired at about 11pm, but cannot fall asleep until 1, 2, or sometimes 3am! This makes for a miserable morning, especially when Cameron wakes up bright and shining at 7:30am! It's not even that I am physically uncomfortable when trying to fall asleep...it's just that I feel like my brain is in overdrive and I can't relax enough to fall asleep quickly!

Easter was lots of fun this year. I looked like Shamu with legs, walking around in my maternity dress at church. Why is it that Rayon makes you look SO much more huge when wearing maternity clothes? I guess it's because it's so lightweight...but seriously, that stuff should be ILLEGAL to use in the manufacturing of maternity clothes!!

As far as movement goes, this little girl has been practicing her kickboxing inside of me! I think she's going to be really strong, like her big brother, because you can already feel how powerful her kicks are if you rest your hand on my stomach. She seems to especially think it's fun to kick your hand if you press into my belly to try and feel where she is!! I don't mind the movement, though...it's very reassuring. I am trying to treasure this pregnancy for as long as I can, before I get to that miserable stage, which I know is coming in a few short months!

I did have a slight scare my 23rd week. I was sitting at the computer, checking my email, when I got up to get a drink from the kitchen. As soon as I stood up, I felt a really really sharp pain in my lower left side that made it virtually impossible for me to move. It was almost as if I was frozen in that position, because if I moved, it just hurt too badly. I waited for about 2 minutes for the pain to subside, and tried massaging the area...finally, I felt OK enough to start walking again! It still hurt, but it wasn't that really sharp pain that I had felt in the previous minutes. It was scary, because had something been wrong, I wouldn't have been able to lunge for the phone to call my husband, since I was already connected online! I know, I know...I always think of the worst case scenario, but that's just in my nature! I did however remember feeling pains like this in my pregnancy with Cameron, so I went to my old website, and looked up Week 23. Sure enough, it was the same type of pain, AND in the same exact spot (I had thought it was in my lower right side that I felt the pain with Cameron, but when I checked my website, I found it was also in the lower left side!) I had the SAME EXACT PAIN, THE SAME EXACT WEEK of my pregnancy this time around as I did last time. Pretty strange, huh?? At least I feel comfortable knowing it was just round ligament pain. It's so funny how nervous you are at every little strange pain or occurrance the first time around, but the second time, you can relax SO much more, since you've been through it all! Just remind me that I said this when I start going into labor, LOL!
