Now that II had basically run its course, the All Around the World Tour was about to end, the Boyz were actually starting to rest for the first time in a very long time. Late in 1995, Boyz II Men started to do duets, and they even released a Spanish CD. The Spanish CD was named Yo Te Voy A Amar (that is "I'll Make Love to You" in Spanish). The CD ended up selling 1 million copies, which is pretty good for a Spanish album. The album included Spanish versions of "Water Runs Dry," "I'll Make Love to You," "On Bended Knee," "Yesterday," and nine songs in English from the II album.

Next came the duets. The first duet did start some controversy. The duet was Wanya and future girlfriend, Brandy, re-doing a song from her first album, "Brokenhearted." The song did very well on the charts. It got to #9 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart, and #2 on Billboard's R&B Singles Chart. The controversy was a Boyz II Men member going off on his own, which started break-up rumors. More break-up rumors would come at the end of December and in 1996. As we all now know, Boyz II Men did not break up, just did other things without the entire group. Another mini-ordeal once "Brokenhearted" did well was a rumor that Wanya gave Brandy a very expensive bracelet (try $40,000!). She did clear it up on a radio station saying "Wanya is too old for her." Well, two years after their duet, the two did date for a long while, but separated in January of 1998.

A duet that really wasn't a duet happened it a bit before the Brandy and Wanya one, but it is worth mentioning. Boyz II Men did a duet with one of their many idols, Michael Jackson on his HIStory album. They sang on the title track, "History." Before 1995, they also sang background vocals for Stevie Wonder on "Jungle Fever," various Another Bad Creation songs, various M.C. Brains songs, a Johnny Gil song named "I Got You," Mike sang in the background of a Keith Martin song named "One Mile From Paradise," and many more. But, the biggest duets were still to come, and one would change Boyz II Men's career forever.

In September of 1995, Boyz II Men filmed the videos for two songs in basically the same week. The first one released was a duet with LL Cool J named "Hey Lover." The song would end up being one of LL's best charted songs ever. It got all the way to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles, (wait till you hear what song was #1 while it was #2!), and it got to #3 on the R&B Singles Chart. The song went platinum. That song was almost forgotten once "One Sweet Day" was released. The video was released four days after "Hey Lover." The woman they did the duet with was Mariah Carey, the biggest selling female artist of the decade, and one of the best voices in the industry. When the biggest group of the 90's and the biggest female artist of the 90's combine to do a duet, you know history will be made and it was. The song debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart on December 2, 1995, and stayed there for an INCREDIBLE 16 weeks!! It ended it's reign at #1 on March 16, 1996. All of this means that Boyz II Men had broken the same record they had tied a year and a half before. Now the record was Mariahs and the Boyz. The #1 single also went double platinum, and made Boyz II Men get bigger than they already were. The bad part of this record setting duet is that the song basically one some song writing awards from BMI and a Billboard Award in 1996 for the biggest song ever. The song was nominated for numerous Grammies in 1996, but they lost every single one. Oh well, Boyz II Men & Mariah have now held the record for the biggest song ever for three long years, more than Boyz II Men held the record with "End of the Road" or "I'll Make Love to You." But, Boyz II Men's joy in a few months would have a few bumps in the road...
