Once Boyz II Men have healed from Khalil's murder, they were ready to release another song. While they were on the road, when they had time off, they would go into a studio and record some songs. "End of the Road" was one of those songs. The song could not get much attention by the fellas at the time because they didn't really have a lot of time to think about how well-written and how superbly they had sung it. The song was released in about July of 1992. It was on the Boomerang Soundtrack, The East Coast Family Album, and later the remix version of Cooleyhighharmony . The single quickly went platinum, got heavy rotation on MTV, BET, and even VH1. Then the day came that the single not only went to #1 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart, it also marked the first time that a Boyz II Men single had went to #1 on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart. This was bittersweet for a group that had just a lost someone very dear to them and that they had two previous singles that were only one and two spots away from being #1. The song was starting to make Boyz II Men household names, giving them fans everywhere, and they were gaining much respect in the music industry for coming out with quality songs every time a new single comes out. By the time October had come, "End of the Road" was STILL #1. A record that was not even touched for 36 years had finally been broken. The record was set by Elvis Presley in 1956 by his single, "Don't Be Cruel/Hound Dog," he stayed #1 for 11 weeks. Boyz II Men had beaten Elvis by two weeks, their record for "End of the Road" was #1 for 13 weeks. And it ended up being the 7th biggest song in the history of Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. But, the bad news is that they could not even hold the record for one year. Right after "End of the Road" had lost it's reign at #1, Whitney Houston comes along with "I Will Always Love You" and breaks their record by only ONE week, staying at #1 for 14 weeks. That record would be only hers for a year, but would later be broken three years later. Boyz II Men were now the successful group that they have dreamed to become. Before 1992 ended, Boyz II Men were the big winners at the Billboard Music Awards, winning three awards. They won #1 Hot Single, #1 Hot Singles Artist, and #1 Single Most Weeks at #1 all for "End of the Road." The performance of "End of the Road" was of course very emotional, as always. At this point, nothing could go wrong with Boyz II Men's career. So far, nothing did.
Once the "End of the Road" hyped had somewhat died down, and 1993 was upon us, it was award show time. But, before they received their awards, they released yet another single from Cooleyhighharmony. The song was a cover, which was never done over because of it's intricate harmonies. The song was "In the Still of the Nite (I'll Remember)." It was also apart of the TV movie, The Jacksons: An American Dream, which Boyz II Men had small cameos in. They were bullies who messed around with Jackie Jackson when the Jackson Five started to get noticed a bit. Anyway, "In the Still of the Nite (I'll Remember)" was an instant hit. It made it to #4 on the R&B Singles Chart, and #3 on the Pop Singles Chart, without a video. The song also marked Boyz II Men's third platinum single, definitely not their last platinum single. The next thing to be released was not a single, but an album. The second version of Cooleyhighharmony was released since Boyz II Men had released two new successful songs and had to show off their Spanish speaking talents. Most people have the second version since "End of the Road" is on it. Next came award show season. Just like the year before, Boyz II Men were ready to take home as many trophies as possible. The first came from the NAACP Images Awards as Best Vocal Group. The next was again the American Music Awards. This time, they performed "End of the Road" and got a standing ovation. They won two awards, Favorite Pop Song, and Favorite R&B Song by a Duo or Group both for "End of the Road" of course. Always after the AMA's came the Grammy Awards. This time, Boyz II Men won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "End of the Road." "End of the Road" also gave Babyface & L.A. Reid Best R&B Song, only songwriters win that award. Boyz II Men probably never dreamt of winning two Grammies. Always after the Grammies comes the Soul Train Music Awards. Boyz II Men picked up three awards, Best R&B Group/Duo, R&B Song of the Year, and R&B Music Video all for "End of the Road." The fellas opened the show with a medley of their big songs, "Please Don't Go," "Uhh Ahh," "It's so Hard to Say Good-bye to Yesterday," "Sympin'," and "End of the Road." Then came Boyz II Men's first visit to the World Music Awards. They won Best International Group and sang "End of the Road" in front of Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson and his friend were singing the words to the song while they sang it, so it must've been a huge honor for the fellas. Billboard Magazine also gave them an award in their magazine for being the Best Charted Group of 1993.
