By the time September of 1993 had come, Michael Bivins was developing his own label, Biv 10 Records on Motown Records for breaking in more artists like Boyz II Men, ABC, etc. To concentrate more on that, he had to give up his job as Boyz II Men's manager for the past two years. Rumors started to spread that Boyz II Men and Michael Bivins were at each other throats or just could not get along anymore. Boyz II Men cleared those rumors by getting any chance they got during interviews to say that Michael wanted to work on his label, and that he knew Boyz II Men were in good hands with their new manager, Dick Scott, (I think he managed the New Kids on the Block). With Michael Bivins departing, Boyz II Men had to show that they could still be good musicians without Michael showing them what they need to do. To prove they were talented men, in November of 1993, Boyz II Men released Christmas Interpretations, a Christmas album. They wrote most of them album themselves, and with help from Brian McKnight. The album ended up doing very well for a Christmas album. It eventually went double platinum, it went to #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums, and it went to #6 on the R&B Albums chart. Only one single was released from that album, and it was "Let it Snow." It did fairly well, the same as the album did, but only on the singles charts. Their were three videos released from this album, "Let it Snow," "Silent Night," and "Share Love." This album also gave them the opportunity to guest star on Will Smith's sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Once Christmas was over, Boyz II Men had to go back into the studio to record the "dreaded" sophomore album, an album that could make or break Boyz II Men's career forever. Would it be successful? Would they live up to the monster success of Cooleyhighharmony? Those questions were going to be answered, and answered above everyone else's expectations.
