November
News
Flash!
We
feel very privileged to have just been offered the support
spot for Leo
Kottke's upcoming show at
the State
Theatre on Sat 21 November - on stage at 8pm.We'll also be doing the Dame Joan
Sutherland Centre at Penrith with him on Tues 17th and possibly Canberra Labor Club on the 18th.
Other
news this month is that we've been invited to perform
at next year's Port Fairy and Blue
Mountains
Folk
Festivals.
Port Fairy is
one of Australia's biggest festivals - 4 hrs west of
Melbourne along the beautiful coast road from 5 - 8
March. Come on down with your tent and eskie! Blue Mountains
festival is held at various venues in the Blue Mountains
(obviously..) on the last weekend in February. Don't
leave your bookings too late as these festivals sell
out fast...
Joy
did an interview with XPress Magazine for
our recent Perth tour.
Coming
up in November, two more big nights at the Excelsior
in Surry Hills on Friday
6th and Saturday 14th
from midnight until we run out of songs ...and news
just through, the Hopetoun gig was such a success that we're back
supporting Diana Ah Naid there on the evening of Sunday 15th
and headlining our own afternoon show on the Sunday 29th from 3-6pm (with special guest Jason Rooke).

OCTOBER
1998
Well,
after a very shaky plane ride home WE'RE BACK! and still
on a high from our wonderful tour to the West. If anyone's
heading over there make sure you check out the Fly
by Night Club in Freo - possibly
the best venue in Australia. Also, if you get a chance
to catch a Sensitive
Newage Cowpersons gig do
yourself a favour - they're hilarious... Well October's
shaping up to be a month of firsts as far as playing
at different venues goes. Hope you can make it along
to some of them.
Love, Joy and Lara.
Saturday,

will be our first gig at the Metro and it should be
a big night with the Whitlams headlining and proceeds
going to support FBI radio. We'll be playing in the

go on stage in the main room. It you get there earlier
you'll get a bonus as Lara will also be performing with
Fourplay from 9.30 - 10.05"

"This
is a gig for Women's Week at UNSW and will be Lara's
first gig since returning home. In fact she only gets

too much of a problem!"
Wednesday,
9th
The State Theatre
8 - 8.20pm
"Supporting
Daniel O'Donnell - this will be our second performance
at this most exquisite of venues and we feel very privileged
to have been invited back"
Wed
16th - Sun 20th
Perth

"Dates
still to be finalised, however they will include one

style gigs. Perth radio stations are currently playing
Papa Luigi's from the CD in support of the tour."

AUGUST
1998
LARA
FLIES TO IRELAND!
"
Unfortunately we won't be playing any shows this month
as Lara's off to soak up the sights and sounds of beautiful
Ireland. However, keep tuned as details will be forthcoming
of exciting up-coming dates in September and October.
Apart from our first ever tour to Joy's hometown of
Perth, there'll be a lunch-time show at UNSW for Women's
Week plus more shows at the Basement and the State Theatre"
JULY
1998
Friday,
3rd
The Excelsior Hotel, Surry Hills
Midnight
"Come
and chill out after your big night on the town.
We usually play for an hour although we've been known
to
play until 3am depending on the crowd. This is your
chance to request favourite songs, listen to some of
ours and sing along wherever possible!"
Sunday,
12th
Harbourside Brasserie,
Pier One, City
4.30
- 8.00pm
"Although
we somehow got on the billing for this gig
Lara's actually going to be in Melbourne, so Joy has
decided to
do her first ever solo performance instead. The evening
is called
'Eve' and it's a showcase night for female songwriters
featuring
the incredible talents of Robyne
Dunn,
Tania Bowra and
Greta
Gertler from
Peccadillo"
Sunday,
19th
BBs Wine Bar, Bondi
Beach
5.30 - 9.00pm
"This
is a regular fave of ours. Set just back from the
beach in Curlewis St this haunt for locals and travellers
alike provides live original music seven nights a week.
There's no cover charge, the atmosphere is totally laid
back and you can hear us play every song we know. This
will
also be Lara's going away party before she heads off
to Ireland
for the month of August."
Saturday,
25th
Tilleys, Canberra
with Jackie Leven
Sunday,
26th
The Basement, Reiby
Place, City
with
Jackie Leven
"Jackie
Leven is a Scottish
singer/songwriter who is by all accounts
sensational so we're looking forward very much to these
shows.
The details are still to be confirmed but we expect
to be on stage
by about 8.30pm each night. Both venues usually sell
out quickly
so you might need to book tickets in advance."
