Special Services was funded from the profits of the Clubs System. A practice that I believe has since gone by the way of the real Clubs.
The recreation equipment given to the young Marine was extensive.
Once a year you could get a pair of Converse Tennis shoes. A really great brand back then.
Once a month you could get a pair of sweat socks, three golf balls, three handballs, and a pair of hand ball gloves. These were
expendable items.
I am sure there were more but I don't seem to be able to recall for sure. I know we were given free sweats
but I can't remember how often.
Along with this athletic equipment we were also given decks of cards and board games such
as checkers and chess. It was a simple but great service to try to keep us healthy and out of trouble.
Well, the things I will be giving away here in my Special Services will not be as good as that given me by the Marine Corps. But I hope
you will enjoy what I have to offer.
