Before MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation)

When I was a young Marine just about everything I could want in the way of recreation was provided for me free of charge. The agency in the Marine Corps that was responsible for this great beneit was called Special Services.

Special Services was funded from the profits of the Clubs System. A practice that I believe has since gone by the way of the real Clubs.

The recreation equipment given to the young Marine was extensive.
Once a year you could get a pair of Converse Tennis shoes. A really great brand back then.
Once a month you could get a pair of sweat socks, three golf balls, three handballs, and a pair of hand ball gloves. These were expendable items.
I am sure there were more but I don't seem to be able to recall for sure. I know we were given free sweats but I can't remember how often.
Along with this athletic equipment we were also given decks of cards and board games such as checkers and chess. It was a simple but great service to try to keep us healthy and out of trouble. PingPong

Well, the things I will be giving away here in my Special Services will not be as good as that given me by the Marine Corps. But I hope you will enjoy what I have to offer.
What we have to offer so far:
Tennis
