Maxie loves watching television. The "Simpsons" is one of her favorite shows... Would you like to hear the "Simpson's" theme? If so, just click here! |
Maxie adopted us on March 20th of 1998, and so far, she and Lady are getting along famously. Maxie was running the streets, without a home, without a collar or tags, at the age of five months...just starting to lose her puppy teeth. Maybe her owners realized she wasn't that cute little puppy they first got; maybe they realized that at five months and thirty-nine pounds, that she wasn't going to stay small for long. (At one-year of age, she's now 71 pounds, and STILL growing!). I wish I knew what the first five months of her life was like. She may have been abused, as she hates loud noises or loud voices. But, she's a very loving dog, although very protective her "her home." You don't need a doorbell as long as Maxie is "on guard."
Hi, I'm Maxie, and since I'm only 15 months old, I don't read and write very well yet... (I was gonna say "too good," but Lady said that saying "very well" is proper English.) She thinks that because I'm a "mix," that I'm not as cool as her, but being a happy mix of Golden Retriever, Collie and German Shepherd Dog is about as cool as it gets! By the way, October 20th is my "adopted" birthday, since my mom doesn't know exactly how old I am...so, wish me a "Happy Birthday!" (The best present I could've asked for is living with my mom and Lady, and that wish sure came true!)
But, Lady is pretty neat. (When she's not bossing me around!) She helps me learn the right way to act. Right now I'm learning how to "heel." Already know "sit," "stay," and "down." (My mom has been working with me a lot!) I also know "NO!" (I always get a funny look on my face when my mom says that word!
Before I came to live with my mom and Lady, I was just running the streets. Some people told my mom about me, and my mom came to find me. When I saw her, I came running at her, and nearly knocked her over! She really looked like a "dog-mom," and I knew that she would give me a good home. I curled up in the front seat of her car, and fell asleep. Next thing I knew, I had a real home!
The first thing my mom did when she got me is take me to the doctor that takes care of animals (Lady said it's called a "Vet.") My mom wanted to make sure I was healthy before I went home with her and Lady. Well, the vet said I was okay, and my mom had to get a lot of green paper out of her wallet when the doctor was done with me. (Lady said it's called "money.")
ANYWAY, (Keep your muzzle shut, Lady!) I've been with my mom and Lady for seven joyous months now, and they've been the happiest times of my life. I still get a little stressed when my mom leaves to go to work, and if she doesn't remember to put her shoes away, I love ripping the insides out of them! (Mom has gone through quite a few shoes since I moved in!) But, I couldn't be happier, and neither could my mom (she tells me that ALL the time!)
Thanks for visiting us....drop us a line in our guestbook. (P.S. Lady thinks I can't read...but I can! I see what she's written about me....the little snob!)
