This
is the Night... series
"The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable to him.'" - Genesis 2:18, NIV
Hey, everyone. This is the Clay Aiken fan fiction series titled after the song This is the Night as written by KDV2911 (me). I didn't want to see them disappear completely after they were archived on Inspir-Aiken or when fan fic was taken off the Clayboard entirely, so I have posted them here where everyone can enjoy them on a permanent basis. A brief synopsis, for those who aren't familiar with the storyline. It's just a simple story cycle about a healthy, godly relationship, using Clay as the male lead and creating a female lead that matches the things he has said he wants to find in a lady.
Dedication: To God, for giving me both the inspiration and the energy for this
ongoing project. I am in awe of everything you have accomplished through this
work, and it is obvious to me that you are the True Author - who not only molds
this series, but who molds and shapes the man, his life, and everyone who comes
into contact with him. To Clay Aiken, for being the series' star and other main
inspiration. Thank you for letting God work through you whether you were aware
of it or not, and thank you for being the most beautiful example of godly man
that I know. To my best friend and sometime editor wannaBmmy, my muse and
confidant MrsMercier, and fellow occasional conspirator 'Sierra' (your
friendship and knowledge is golden, m'lady). I couldn't have done this without
your help and guidance either. To my parents, for always loving me, for always
being there, and for understanding this crazy ministry journey I'm on. I
couldn't have been blessed more than to be your daughter. To my faithful
readers, thank you for believing in me and my project. You have no idea how
much all of you have meant to me. (I made a copy of all your comments and saved
it to my hard drive - does that help?) And thank you again to God, who has
blessed me in more ways than I can ever know, much less count.
Disclaimer Time: Clay Aiken owns himself and trademarked his own name - I have no claim to who he is. The real people in these stories (Faye Parker, Kim Locke, Ruben Studdard, Jerome Bell, Clay's siblings, Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa, David Letterman, et al.) own themselves as well. Certain other fictional characters have been loosely-based on real-life individuals, and I have tried to show them respect in their "characters". The prose on these pages is copyrighted by myself, but is published only here and on several Clay Aiken message boards. Song lyrics are quoted in part or in their entirety in my stories, namely This is the Night (written by Aldo Nova, Gary Burr, and Chris Braide; recorded by Clay Aiken), Measure of a Man (written by Steve Morales, Cathy Dennis and David Siege; recorded by Clay Aiken), I Will Be Here (written and recorded originally by Steven Curtis Chapman; recorded also by Clay Aiken), I'll Take Care of You (written by Archie Jordan and Glenn Sutton; recorded in 1984 by Ronnie Milsap and in 2003 by Steven Curtis Chapman), and 8th World Wonder (written by Kyle Jacobs, Shaun Shankel, and Joel Parkes; recorded by Kim Locke). Although it doesn't work to put the songwriters' names into the fiction, I do often give credit for the recording artist... and now the writers are given their due here. I have also put some of my own compositions in my fiction, most notably The Two Shall Be Come One (written by myself - copyrighted but not yet published). ALL song lyrics not written expressly for this series have been edited out of the copyrighted version.
June 24, 2008 note - I have broken these up into smaller chunks to make it easier for readers to remember where they left off. I have also begun some bonus pages just for fun... hope they're something you enjoy.
