Our poor kitchen has gone through many changes. When we moved in, there was a single wall of cabinets/counter against the west wall. Since is was a 10 foot ceiling, the top two shelves were useless for anything needed on a daily basis.....I'm 5'2" LOL.

The first thing we did, was stain the cabinets gold and avacado. We then used rub on decals of owls etc. When the cabinets were finished, I put brown checked contact paper on the north wall; it's amazing what you can do on a tight budget. The ceiling tiles were then painted gold, which helped to brighten up the room. Below are several photos of our kitchen's different looks, taken over the space of time.

	The original wallpaper on the north wall was a red kitchen utensil print on a white background. It probably looked great when it was new, however by the time we moved in it had yellowed quite a bit.
	The floor covering was a well worn, green and cream square pattern. Did I mention that it was extremely cold in the winter. The previous owners had added onto the kitchen in the 50's and didn't insulate too well. Additionally, below the new extention, there was only crawl space.
