Being a perfectionist has it's downside. Taping became a game....could I do a good job or would it look like crud! We filled in a doorway on the east side of the kitchen. That was the worst of it....I sure didn't want to see a taped rectangle when we painted over it. Well, you can't see where the doorway was; so we done good!

Our wonderful kids helped their Dad with the sheetrock, small fries held the screws or ran errands. It takes a village raize a kitchen too. |
|
After the taping was complete, we painted the surface with a couple of coats of primer...looks like Terri is wielding the brush here. |

Another photo. |

More of the same. |

The view towards the north east corner of the kitchen was our favorite. The patio doors let in so much light into that formerly dark and dingy kitchen; it was a pleasure just sitting on folding chairs, watching the birds out on the deck. |
|
Installing the upper cabinets was a challenge, again, nothing was square and it was tricky to get them to fit right. |
|
We hadn't bought the new refrigerator yet; so you can see how creative we had become with the old one. The had covered the door with stickers and when they got grungy looking I covered them up with a mushroom pattern contact paper. Gee, when I think about it, we really used a lot of contact paper back in those days. |
