The CLOUDS is a software created for detecting the size of surfaces from
which gases (or gas bubbles) evaporate. Most of the gases seem brighter
against the background and they can be seen with a naked eye or can be
filmed by cine-camera. The CLOUDS software requires two cameras filming the
given object at one and the same time. The pictures of the object are saved
as AVI-files, which are further used in the program. The program identifies
the object in the same way as the human eye does it. The computer program
operates in a field determined by 4 points chosen in advance. These points
serve as a field for the two immovable cameras, develop the space and remove
the perspective originating from the filming of the objects at an angle. The
points mentioned serve also for connection of the two objects in the memory
of the computer and for creation of virtual space. This stereo effect
facilitates the correct identification of the surface from which the gases
come out. The program is completely automated and requires only initial
setting up of the plane parameters. The CLOUDS?s output is very flexible and
allows connection with every program for further drawing or processing of
the results.
Loading and some general requirements
The product is a short EXE program,
consisting of several modules. CLOUDS is loaded, using 3 diskettes in
WINDOWS 95- or WINDOWS NT-media. The installation of CLOUDS only, is not
enough to use the program. This program is only a bridge
between the application "Source" (AVI 1 file and AVI 2 file) and the
application "Receiver" (Excel, Word, Origin, ...)
The idea of CLOUDS...
Operation in automatic regime...
After processing the first few
frames manually it is possible to turn to automatic mode.
Processing of the result...
The result is shown as a column.
The figures give the result in pixels, in a field 400/250. The real result
is obtained by simple calculation.
Compatibility and scope of
applicability...
This program is created to detect smoke upon surfaces, but the program can
also be used to detect any object which intensity differs from the
surrounding background. The operating raster of the system is 400/250 pixels
and can not be changed. This raster is good enough to detect objects and the
operating computer?s time is also quite acceptable. High quality pictures
decrease to a greater degree the time for system tuning.
CLOUDS is very flexible according to the ?Source? and ?Receiving?
applications. The ?Source? could be provided by any AVI files and any spreadsheet program could be used as Receiving application.
CLOUDS considers only the brightness of the objects and the easy finding of the 4 points determining the operating surface.
Some examples ...
The program CLOUDS can
see the objects only using pixels intensity. The colors are invisible. This
picture represents a piece of AVI file, demonstrating how CLOUDS see
objects. There is no colored picture and you will see that objects become
obscure.
