.... The continuing saga that has become known as Family News is here again. This is somewhat of a mini-series covering past/present/recent events in and around the house. This is one page of several others that "getting better as we go" keeps you up to speed of events around here. The idea that this may appear as a monthly thing is false. It is written when the weather keeps me indoors or when the notion strikes me. Remember this is not only for those far away but for those of us who have a moments to spend during the day when reading is much better. Take a moment to write and let us know events unfolding at your end.
Before | It's like reading old newspapers, "It's News to Me" | After |
Karin's world 20011010 - The student still has a firm grip on school and the part time job.
20011016 - Our car radio has failed! Sadly it is not all that old however these beasts are expensive to repair, we are pleased to report the world is safe once again from silence with a replacement radio (in dash CD head).

Sherri's world 20011009 - Again the subjects doing their best Club Med beach pose and Great Hunter/Forager impersonation.

Carolyn's world 20011001 - I can't say this enough, the old adage, "take care" are very profound words indeed. These words have graced the site for months now and shall remain for some time to come. By these words it also can be said the care taken must be your own. Briefly I mentioned a potentially serious drug interaction that was for the most part dismissed by several that should know better, has come to a conclusion. Well, for the majority of the indications it has concluded after almost ten months. Alarming to note the interaction was almost immediate however the recovery was 1000 fold as long. 20011020 - It has been a lesson learned to reduce to an absolute minimum the amount of drug taken be they natural or manufactured for what ever use or reason. At the end of the day almost no noticeable detriment nor ill effect has occurred since, but it maybe early yet. Mind you we have taken a healthier approach to things, evening walks are normal and with cooler weather walks on the treadmill in the house. These walks are convincing to a point the benefits where perhaps the reduced time to recover from the interaction may have increased and it's time away from the TV commercials, this alone is a good thing. More as time goes on and a solid decision as to the benefits if any are known. Until then we are those two who walk past your window every evening. Speaking of every evening, what's the deal with people who are either sitting in the dark or in bed at about 8 PM. Sleep your day away or what? We have wondered at the same houses that never have a light on or perhaps don't use electric light but then again they might be asleep before dusk. This is not the backwoods by any means, and not a few houses we're talking dozens, strange just the same. I can't see that the vast majority of these houses are empty? Hmmm? There are fewer priorities than fine health. (SAIT)

Don's world 20011001 - G4. [sigh] I'm still in awe. More memory and newer software continues to amaze me daily. 640 MB of RAM, who would have thought that any one person could afford to buy this amount of memory and still buy groceries. To date I have spent $145 on extra memory to get to 640 MB, these few dollars my friends got 512 MB of the fast stuff. And it's even cheaper now! I still vividly remember the first 1 MB SIMM I bought for $77, and I thought it was a deal then. It was really compared to a few months before when it was above $100 for a single 1 MB SIMM. Last time you may remember I ranted about internet appliances. Apple has surprized us all! Check out the iPod soon on sale in a store near you. I would like to see an audio division of Apple, they might just do a world of amazing things. 20011030 - Technology Gloat of the Month: Proud user of a kitchen LAN connection! What better place to have a LAN connection connected to the servers in the house for recipes and correspondance. Both AppleTalk and 10baseT of course.

The House
20011030 - New cabinets are in place, new floor is in place, new paint, new colors, new blinds are up, new furniture, new lights in kitchen & hall, etcetera, etcetera. The main floor is nearing completion as we speak. I must mention the craftsmen we were blessed with to place cabinets and floor were nothing more than excellent. The cabinet guy was a perfectionist that made every flaw in the cabinets vanish. Some damage caused by poor shipping was completely repaired except for one spot we can barely see and naturally the original house construction presented a challenge in itself.
The left photo is the corner of the kitchen usually holding the table and chairs, gone now are table and chairs. Also notice the floor has been removed down to the tongue & groove ship-lap sub floor and new plywood on top is being installed. The right photo does not show the new floor however it has the new cabinets (sans doors) and paint with minor electrical changes shown. As of this writing the doors and electrical are completed with new countertop due in a few hours from this moment. The right photo still has the light above the wall however in my current learning stage of digital photography I choose to leave them off. Next issue I will have more photo's once I make space on the site, this will require study and removal of seldom viewed pages here at D2M. We are waiting and standing by to solve another house (reno) emergency. (D2M)
