Happy Holidays
....It's that time of year again when the hustle and rush of the season gets us ready for the great anticipation of things to come.
It is never "all for not" as we can remember the times gone by and can better steer the times ahead.
Christmas is here and another new year as well.
It is our fondest hope that your new year brings you joy and true blessings for many years to come.

Last year's Christmas greeting was perhaps a little too sappy so I will take a different approach this year.
One day I will obtain a digital camera for Christmas photo's since I cannot rely on my habits of taking pictures with the regular camera and then scanning them. You know the deal after so many years of the same camera the novelty wears off add the film and developing costs to the rare kodak moments that are too often met with a lack of the camera at hand. I'm sure you can also understand the notion of getting "the Fam" gathered around for a few photo's all at the same time.
The year past has blessed us with too many things to capture here so to keep you up to date a few highlights:
Today (981206 Sunday) as I write it is very nice weather with no wind yet an hint of Christmas in the air. The season so far has been good to us with a little brushing of snow and chilly mornings. It is the type of atmosphere that stories are told of yet we lack a fireplace to curl up in front of, the glow of the TV, bowl of popcorn and a blanket will do.
The house is decorated in the spirit with lights on the trees and the house. There has been a run on candles around here as in the last few years (they bring a certain atmosphere unto themselves) on all the coffee tables. A large bag of Ikea tea lights will last just a month but we still have a few boxes of "fenomen" the Ikea long candle to tide us over.
It's started as I'm sure it has there, the shopping and the rushing around in a cloud of confusion where to score the perfect gift without losing a grip on reality.
ap-pli-ance (a-pli'ans) n. A device, esp. an item of household equipment that can never be filled with money.
Just to let you know you are not alone in appliance repair we too have been doomed to suffer lately. The frig is soon to be landfill, the dryer is squeeling as we speak from idler wheel failure, the range blew a TRO this week and the car is due for service. What fun, eh?
The girls are doing well and keeping busy with jobs and such. The phone is always ringing with news of shopping adventures and pending sales. Caution, when giving children cellular phones they will use them.
Karin is working at two jobs not by design but by chance. The choice to keep both will likely run out after the start of the new year. The rub is this, Eaton's was not all that kind to it's employees so Karin in her sightfulness decided to leave and found another job a few days later (Wilson's). In her search for higher pay and better hours she also scored another job (Hair Today) that made a better offer. She decided I'm sure with her new car and the expenses that come with it to keep both for a short while. Her car is a '89 Mazda MX6 from the auction house that is actually very nice. After few repairs to ensure safe motoring she is seldom seen around here.
In the new year school (marketing, sales, retailing related) is in her stars.
Sherri has also taken on the Eaton's challenge. She has taken on the lingerie department with vigor. This is a good thing and a bad thing. A good thing because the company discount keeps her in clothes but the bad goes with it and we can sympathize with Dan when it comes to more Eaton's bags comming into the apartment. Things are going well around their house as well.
In June we hosted a 21st birthday party for Sherri at Gramma's condo complex. We tried to keep it a surprize party and I think we pulled it off very well. Good time had by all. The cats are getting big and I'm sure still a handful.
Around SAIT and Telus the air of uncertainty is always there. SAIT is going into yet another joint venture and Telus has intentions to merge with BCTel.
Carolyn has been taking SAIT and doctors in her stride. SAIT has recently fired a few long timers and left the rest in the registrar's office uneasy. Carolyn's HR department is smoothly going along with less of her there lately. When January 11 comes and goes the surgery should have the heart problem licked. In the mean time she often finds she cannot get into the office which is good because the added stress and work should be avoided. The time spent waiting is seemingly endless, the delays in getting into the hospital is over 6 months now.
I have continued good fortune at home, work and such. This of course does not let me off the hook since I have too many projects started and yet nary the courage to spend big bucks on them.
The Macs are doing well and I may soon publish some QT movies for your enjoyment (this is yet another project). The family tree publishing project is stalled from prohibitively expensive software costs. I cannot expect everyone to buy the finest database software so I have to regress and turn to family ancestry software. Flat text files are out. The demo's I have seen are crap but to port to the windoze world this is a certainty I do not relish.
This is most of the news from here and of course more is at the regular site. When time permits updates are usually every other Sunday. You guess which Sundays.
