....And now the News that is Family News Here is the page of past events in and around the house for a second time.
This is page two of hopefully many more and getting better as we go. Of course Family News page one is always there just so you can get "up to speed", it's like reading old newspapers (it's news to me). If this is old news to you then check out Family News 3 page three for more up-to-date stuff. Stay tuned for more to come.
Something New: Here for your entertainment is a page of early McLellan history in pictures. Details are there.
©1998 1999 D2M, I'm sure images and certain proprietary items are here somewhere, they at all times belong to/ registered to the respective owners, you know who you are.
Karin
980918 - As always Karin is in the tradition of being busy with job(s) and soccer with her friends et al.
Eaton's is treating her well and looks like a reasonable job to keep for awhile. Time will tell.
981017 - Be warned, another car will be on the road! She is now the proud/owner/operator/driver of a Mazda MX6. Not a bad car really, it has had a few bumps in it's time but feels sound. It's a few years old but has a few more in it.
981102 - After some repairs to set my mind at ease the new car is looking more like a fine automobile. Actually it is a good looking car with very few problems, lots of spunk and life.
9811-- - Karin and Eaton's have parted. Wilson's Stationary is the place to be lately due to a disagreement and silly policy at Eaton's. She has a better peace of mind since.
990110 - Who am I to figure what should happen next? She has new a job that is more to her liking and pays better & commission to boot. Hair Today is a salon that is also in The Mall so being fairly close to home is good. She is the one you see at the front counter and does the booking and paperwork.
990120 - School has begun and with a high degree of energy and Mom's Visa card, success is certain. Mount Royal College for a few sales & marketing courses and also to Viscount to upgrade a mark for full time(?) college. She gets off easy being only out of high school for a year and then to go back the transition will be a snap.
990128 - 18! Say no more.

Sherri
980918 - The cats are getting big! Sherri and Dan are also busy and looking for a new car. Well I should say newer car since the K has pretty much failed to the point of being untrustworthy.
981016 - Look out Eaton's here they come, the girls are taking over! Sherri will be straightening the lingerie dept daytime most days at first. This is a good thing, much closer to home and if the bus is required then only one.
990212 - Eaton's is in the news again with continued tales of woe. The stock is down and talk of an upset or a buyout is possible. At her store they are expanding with a third floor and furniture sales. I would think staff cuts are next but they seem to be at an all time low. Her hours are cut back in her department and she makes up in others. She has a optimism that keeps her going.

Carolyn
980918 - Lactose is not our friend. What a difference! Take away a bit of milk (read NO dairy, what-so-ever) and she is a new person. When you really look at food labels milk of some sort or another is in just about everything, what a drag.
981018 - The milk embargo is going well with minor kinks. There is always the unexpected but it is a learning experience and time will work out the wrinkles.
981124 - The date is set. The hospital has booked January 11 as the day. She will be in for a preliminary session on the Friday before and then under the knife Monday. We are of course very nervous about it as expected but they are confident things will go well. More later.
990108 - Kinks everywhere. The office of Doc Bob is waiting on a new piece of hardware to cure a twist in the story. This has postponed the surgery until new RF ablation equipment arrives. There are complications that are putting the "Rhythm Guy" in a state. She has symptoms of postural orthostatic tachycardia, perhaps hyperthyroidism & of course sinus tachycardia. We have done our own research and these are related to several accounts of success in various parts of the planet by ablation. With the past surgery and the planned Doc Bob has yet a new challenge ahead. Carolyn has been doing as best as can be expected.
990213 - Ever heard of Celiac Spru? This is when grain (gluten) has an effect on a person's digestive system that is not at all comfortable. I believe this has been a result of the kitchen sink drug therapy. Not that the drugs have been all necessary, they have been but they are causing undesirable effects. Ever tasted a muffin made without wheat flour or bread without flour? Different. Try to go to a restaurant and avoid any grain or dairy! Research on our part again has helped us deal with the diet and my advise to anyone looking for help on this or related concerns, DO NOT TRUST the first or second so-called professionals. They are adamant on what they learned in school and little will sway them otherwise. Why? This is unknown and I think the time honoured patient-knows-nothing tactic and general skill level of the high priced help. Difficult diets are your own problems to fix and should be treated as such, I think they are generally suspicious of what the patient tells them. This is what we have learned so far. The trick is to beat the celiac reaction and gain some strength from it, both emotionally and physically.
With the above in mind and the as yet unknown new date of surgery the story continues....

Don
980918 - What can I say, the summer is nearly gone and more indoor pursuits are afoot. I have likely said somewhere else here that since my Video parts shopping spree I have been kept busy goofing off with this. Too much fun. It keeps me out of trouble, OK.
990118 - For the past few weeks I have been sicker than a dog. My head was like a brick and every joint with a tennis elbow feeling. I would go through fits of coughing and driving the girls crazy. If it was the flu, avoid it, if possible refuse to accept it.
990213 - Feeling much better but since the removal of Christmas lights from the house and my hap-hazard use of my elbow to test my pain threshold, things are fine. A tennis elbow re-visit? I hope not. I don't play tennis. Rubbing rum on it helps a bit, from the inside as well.

The House
980918 - The house in general is somewhat ready for winter other than a few modifications to the basement heat dilemma. Winter, what am I talking about, I don't like winter yet I am prepared for it, mentally, not. Actually the lack of bugs makes it a pleasant change from this pesky vermin of the planet.
The heat problem is a simple adjustment to equalize the air flow and reduce a couple of cool spots. Maybe add a duct in the basement?? Renovations are so much fun.

To be continued...

990213 - Can you believe the weather! I have been out with the hose washing windows and cleaning up the winter dirt. The warmth is just for a few hours during the day but just enough to get something done. Keeps the cabin fever syndrome manageable, eh.
