Design for Sliding Door / Docking Port


This design is for a pocket door, as seen in various movies and TV series. This is combined with a docking attachment. The dual male/female design allows two identical ports to be docked. The core frame and add-on modules of the ship can incorporate these docking ports, and the modules can be attached to the ship in different configurations. At the very least, these ports will be used for the living quarters/escape pod (LQ/EP) modules.

Large modules (the size of the LQ/EP modules is in the neighborhood of 16Wx28Dx13H) may require stronger attachments than two Technic pegs can provide, so there will probably be either a redesign of this element, or a heavy-duty docking port will be designed, featuring more attaching pegs, but remaining compatible with this lightweight port.

A docking port for vertical passageways needs to be designed as well.
