[Spaceship Bridge] [Spaceship Greenhouse Pod] [Inter Deck Ladder] [Docking Port Door] [Living Quarters] [Transmat Station] [Core Hull] [Engine Room] [FTL Duct] [FTL Generator] [BR Overall]
A better title would be 'propulsion systems and services'. The 'systems' include FTL drive, sub-light drive, particle deflection, and inertial dampeners. The services are the main engineering room, systems control, and all those little crawlspaces the engineers need to access their machinery. The pictures below are just a section of the engine room area.
This is an LDraw version of something that has actually been built. Unfortunately, the real-life model is about as complete as this study. The main layout of the engine room has a human-friendly compartment (shown below) placed between two very human-unfriendly FTL generator compartments. The red-framed double doors allow maintenance access to the generators. When complete, the generators will be horizontally aligned, mostly cylindrical, with a lot of transparent pieces. I'm hoping to work some fibre-optic bits into the generators.
