Sammo Hung

Sammo Hung

A star that has starred, directed, choreographed and produced TONS of films and though he's heavy he can still do it all, kick, acrobatics and and anything else that makes a kung fu actor. No sloppy stuff from him, always showing traditional techniques done with precision and expertise. He is very sympathetic and funny and in most of his movies there's always someone calling him "fatty", but guess who kicks who's ass.
Sammo started to train at the Peking Opera Shool at a very young age when he begged his father for permission. As soon as he sattled down at Yu Jim Yuen's shool he regretted it because the training was very hard. Sammo said that he was forced to stand on his hands for hours. He became one of the "7 Little Fortunes" troupe (with Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao) who where selected for demonstrations all around the world and was called "Big Brother" by the other members as he was the oldest of them. Since then Sammo, Jackie, and Yuen have become like brothers and have starred in lots of movies together.
His first screen appearans was in "Education of Love" in 1961 and his first directing job was "The Fast Sword" from 1971. After this he has directed, starred and choreagraphed tons of movies and has worked with most of the famous Hong Kong actors and directors, or as I would put it, they've worked with him. His best movies include "The Magnificent Butcher" where he played the famous Hung Gar master Lam Sai Wing, and the excellent "The Victim" where he and Leung Kar Yan showed us how impressive they can be. His best directing efforts are "Prodigal Son", "Knockabout" and "Blade of Fury".
The last thing I saw him in was the "Martial Law" TV series where he played Shanghai cop Sammo Law.
