Special expeditions can also be arranged to observe the flora and fauna in the various ecological environments at different altitudes of Ecuador. |
Sangay Expedition SANGAY (5,230 meters). This volcano is a world-reknown attraction for mountain climbers. It is not only a joy to reach the crater, which is always in eruption, it is also a fascinating experience to observe volcanic formations, vegetation, trees and páramos, and of course, the continuous explosions and lava surrounding the ice. The Sangay National Park is the largest wild area of Ecuador. The territory which forms the reserve extends from the high summits of Altar, Cubillin, Quillimas, Osogochi and Sangay to the humid and subtropical region of the Palora and Upano Rivers. The park covers a surface of 549,000 hectareas and covers a large part of three Ecuadorian provinces: Tungurahua, Chimborazo and Morona Santiago. Most of the reserve is unaccesible and presents a variety of life zones, from 1,000 meters to 5,000 meters, thus containing the most varied community of plants and animals, as well as natural beauty. There are a considerable number of the following animals: pumas, jaguar, deer, dantas, condors, etc. all of whose existence is protected. Within the park are beautiful waterfalls, lakes, rivers and an infinity of geological formations, glaciers, volcanoes, caverns, thermal springs, etc. Itinerary DAY 1: |
Altar Expedition ALTAR (5,404 meters). The Altar is the most
beautiful mountain of Ecuador. It is an old volcano, very eroded by glaciers.
It appears like a crown of diamonds over the backbone of the Eastern cordillera,
surrounded by unaltered vast wild zones of paramo, where deer, bears and condors can be
sighted. There are also several small indian villages and antique haciendas. Itinerary
