Much of the earlier Barefoot genealogy is based on the researches of Michael Barefoot (deceased) published in his book "Barefoots of the Lower Thames Valley", supplemented by information from Anne Letchford & Marylyn Collins of England. The information on the New Zealand descendants of Charles Grantham is predominately extended on the researches collated by Bob Knight.

Buried: 5 February 1857, age 43, at Stratfield Mortimer St Mary (address given as Wokefield).

Parents: William Brimley and Lucy Watson.

• Made her mark only when registering daughter's birth.
• Hannah Enfield appears to be the Hannah Englefield listed as living at Goddards lane, Stratfiel Mortimer, in the 1851 census. Her mother, Mary Englefield was present at the deaths of Martha's parents. Relationship (if any) of Englefields to Brimley's is not clear.

Died: 31 October 1852 at Wokefield of "old age paralysis" (Mary Engfield present at death).
